The space THE COTTAGE Perched six feet above ground, this elevated retreat features ten large picture windows with expansive treetop views of native ʻōhiʻa tree and hapuʻu tree ferns. The cottage includes: • SPACIOUS BEDROOM: Queen-size bed, sliding glass doors to the veranda, and large picture windows perfect for stargazing and enjoying lush vegetation views. • SITTING ROOM: A truly magical space. In the morning, sunlight filters through a prism by the window, casting cheerful rainbow reflections across the wall. In the evening, the gas fireplace brings a cozy mountain ambiance, and the large picture window frames the outdoors. As night falls, an outdoor spotlight illuminates the scene, perfect for watching raindrops dance in the breeze on misty nights. • EXPANSIVE VERANDA & DECK: Ideal for soaking up the morning sun and unwinding in the afternoon. FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN • 4-burner propane stovetop, countertop oven, microwave, and two under-counter fridges. • Pantry stocked with essentials, including organic coffee, tea, olive oil, honey, and filtered water. ADDITIONAL AMENITIES • Washer and dryer (available for stays of 7+ nights) are located beneath the cottage — please mind the low ceiling. • Covered carport for easy access. • Private half-acre grounds with footpaths for a nature-inspired stroll. GUIDE BOOK • A guest binder and welcome packet will guide you to local gems, from lava tube hikes to cozy cafes. Guest access The cottage sits on a peaceful half-acre property with footpaths and stepping stones for you to explore. Please exercise caution, as the ground can become slippery when wet. Guests staying 7 days or longer have access to the washer and dryer beneath the cottage (note the low ceiling in this area). The remainder of the storage area under the house is closed off. Otherwise, you’ll have full access to the cottage, yard, and covered carport. Other things to note • Guests must climb a 14-step staircase to reach the front door. Please consider this if you may find it challenging to carry luggage up stairs. • Our water supply relies on rainwater catchment, so we kindly request that guests take showers instead of baths to help conserve water. • There is no supermarket in Volcano Village; the nearest is about 20 minutes away. We recommend picking up groceries or supplies in Hilo before driving to Volcano. • Washer and dryer access is available only for stays of 7 days or longer.
