Private and peaceful best describes this space. Hale Ohia Nui A Cottage Under the Towering Ohia Trees Come to Paradise and relax in complete privacy. As you drive into the property, you'll enter a private world, surrounded by a tropical paradise of beauty. This is your relaxing place on the Big Island. You can sit back and take it easy in the bright and airy living room. Just dial in some music, or turn on the TV, or just kick back and take a snooze. Enjoy the beautiful pine interior, even in the two full bathrooms. The kitchen is fully-equipped with all modern appliances that include a range, refrigerator, and all the cooking and dining conveniences that you'll need. From your front door, take a 15 minute drive to Isaac Hale Beach Park with its beautiful thermal-heated tide-pool and large brand new black sand beach newly created by Madame Pele. This is a safe and gorgeous place for the whole family. You're only five minutes to old Pahoa Town, which is a step back in time. You'll find Old-West style buildings with wooden sidewalks dating back 100 years, and a great variety of resources for residents and travelers alike. No tourist trappings here, either, but we do have some of the finest restaurants on the Island. Thai, Tuscany Italian, natural-foods, and the best 'hole-in-the-wall' take-out Chinese that you can imagine! Funky ambiance with a delightful surprise of wonderful cuisine. The Maku'u Sunday Farmer's Market features live music, farm fresh fruits and vegetables, locally prepared specialties and the people watching alone is worth the trip. It's as much a social event as a marketplace. And just in case you're in the mood, how about an open-air massage? If you would like to explore the island beyond Puna, you can take a 45 minute drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park which is full of experiences, wonderful sights, and hikes. On another day you can venture up the coastal highway north past Hilo and check out Akaka Falls. If you continue north beyond Akaka Falls you can visit Waipio Valley and Waimea. Both of which are immensely lush and beautiful destinations. If you continue to drive just 10 miles past the lush green pasture lands of Waimea you will come upon the largest and most beautiful white sand beach on the island, Hapuna Beach. Lockbox at the front entrance. Guests are free whilst visiting Hale Ohia Nui. They will be the only people on the property during their stay. Neighborhood is sparsely populated. Semi convenient. Bus can be caught up on the main road. There is a futon in the living room.
