Authentic TiPi in the Forest

Description

Camp in an authentic tipi in the midst of the forest while you explore beautiful MT! A perfect secluded spot for those who want to be in Nature yet enjoy little comforts in a cozy fireside space. We furnished our 16' tipis with cedar wood floors, cowhide rugs, iron beds with deluxe linens & comforters, and seating areas. Outdoor areas have Adirondack chairs, dbl hammock, fire pit, BBQ, cooler, picnic bench, cooking & dining ware. A hot outdoor shower & porta-potty are close by your tipi. The space Our two canvas tipis are located north of Whitefish, on a dirt road in the middle of our 8 acres of private forested property, backing up to a National Forest. We are a 1/2-hour drive from the town of Whitefish and a 1-hour drive to Glacier Park. The tipis provide a unique camping experience for those who want to avoid pitching a tent at a campground and prefer being in a quiet natural setting surrounded by groves of century-old pines. We've taken care to create a cozy, relaxing atmosphere "off the grid" yet with many little comforts. We've equipped the interiors with queen beds on iron frames, new deluxe linens & comforters, mosquito netting, bench chair, and two bedside tables. A bedside chest holds extra blankets. Portable solar-powered lanterns hang just outside our tipis for your use around the property, as well as flashlights on the bedside tables. Battery-operated twinkle lights provide ambient lighting inside the tipis. We have two tipis available (Horse & Bison) for groups of 2-4 campers. Please message us for more details if you are interested in reserving both. A porta-potty is located approximately 10 yards from the tipis with bamboo fencing for privacy. There is a hand-washing station with hand towels. A covered outdoor shower is approximately 20 yards away with hot & cold water, bathing toiletries, and bath towels. Adirondack chairs and a double hammock for sunbathing & star gazing surround a rock fire pit, which you are welcome to light, weather permitting. Firewood is provided. We've created a well-lit cooking and dining area with a BBQ and picnic table for dining alfresco. Cookware, dining ware, and an ice chest are provided. We provided a small solar-powered generator for charging your devices. It does not have the capacity to charge other items. Depending on your carrier, cell & internet service may be spotty. Parking spaces are within 5 yards of the tipis. Besides the sounds of nature, trains pass by regularly on the tracks between our property and the highway, approximately 1/8 mile. Depending on wind conditions, the sounds may seem closer to our place. The Lupfer Trail is close by and is a gentle 4-mile hike through dense woods of larch, birch, and pines. The Stillwater Lakes are just below our property, about a 10 minute drive. Combined, they cover almost 1000 acres, backing up to pristine national forest land. Great for fishing & hiking and a variety of non-motorized water sports. Kayaks and paddleboards are available to rent in the nearby town of Olney. The Stillwater bar is a locals' watering hole on the south side of the lake. The tiny town of Olney is about a 15 minute drive from us with a small convenience store (ice, sundries, etc) and a gas pump. We have a "Things to See & Do" folder in your tipi with our sightseeing suggestions and favorite eating & drinking spots! Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy the woods surrounding our tipis as well as hiking in the forests and swimming & fishing in the nearby lakes. A port-a-potty with privacy fencing and a hand washing station are situated very close by the tipis. The shower is located approximately 10 yards away. Your parking space is within 30 feet of the tipis. Other things to note Our tipis are truly in the woods, which is home to many forest creatures. Although bear sightings around our specific location have been extremely rare, bears, moose, elk and deer do live in these woods. The smaller critters (squirrels, raccoons, mice, etc) are more common visitors. Depending upon the weather, mosquitoes may also be around. We regularly spray the canvases with an organic repellent, have cirtronella plants & candles and mosquito netting over your bed, but we recommend bringing your preferred repellent. Our tipis are fully enclosed, except for the traditional "smoke holes" on top and the entry canvas. To keep unwanted visitors away, please keep your food, fragrant lotions, etc., packed securely in your vehicles when not in use (think camping). These are authentic tipis and have a circular hole in the tops. There are tarps inside each tipi in case of rain. We are located approximately 11 miles north of Whitefish (about 1/2 hour drive & depending on current road construction, it may dbl/triple the time) on Highway 93 and an additional 2 1/2 miles on a well-marked dirt road. The road is easily navigable with a 2-wheel drive car. Train tracks are less than a mile from us and you will regularly hear the sounds of the trains as they travel north. Cell and internet service are typically good, yet can be spotty depending on the carrier. A small convenience store (for ice, sundriesies, etc) & gas pump are located approximately 15 minutes away in the tiny town of Olney. We will provide a welcome letter, packing suggestions and more details about our unique space upon booking confirmation. We are happy to answer any questions you may have!
