Aloha and welcome to Sunrise Sanctuary at Halawai, a tranquil oasis located midway between Hilo and Kona on the road to magical Green Sand Beach. Halawai is a peaceful 3-acre property in South Point, Nāʻālehu Hawaii, and serves as a perfect base to have while touring the southern area of the island. You will love your apartment's bright, clean, comfortable, cheery atmosphere filled with the spirit of Aloha. Not to mention, the sun & moon rises are just fantastic from this apartment suite! The space Your rental is an entire spacious beautiful, 1 bedroom 1 bath private apartment located on the upper floor. We call this the Sunrise Suite because the views from the bedroom of the sunrise, the moon rise and the stars can be utterly breathtaking. There is a grand outdoor staircase to access the upper floor, where you pass through your own private huge Lanai (an outside covered verandah) to relax on and enjoy the herb and flower garden below. You enter the sliding door to a cheery room full of light, good energy, Hawaiian art and colors. For your comfort there is a full kitchen, stove, microwave, refrigerator, and a coffee/ tea bar. There are also condiments, and salad dressings etc in the refrigerator for your usage. The bedroom has a new queen sized memory foam mattress to relax and dream in peaceful ease. The adjoining large bathroom has a shower, is newly painted, stylish, and well appointed. In the living room there is a wonderful full size (memory foam mattress) daybed, super comfortable for lounging and perfect if extra sleeping arrangements are needed. For those with chemical sensitivities. We clean with non-toxic old fashioned cleaners and essential oils only. Mahalo Guest access The upper lanai (veranda) of your apartment is for your enjoyment. The bottom floor within the bamboo area is our home and a private area. Mahalo You are more than welcome to sit within, do yoga or walk through the numerous beautiful gardens and enjoy what we are growing. Our home is located in South Point (Naalehu) In Hawaiian it is called "Ka Lae" which means "The Point", as its the southern most point of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the whole United States! No light pollution makes for FANTASTIC FOR STAR WATCHING UNDER THE MILKY WAY AND SOUTHERN CROSS!!! South Point is the very place where the first sea faring Polynesians (Hawaiians) came ashore so long ago and the region where the mightiest warrior, King Kamehameha trained in the Hawaiian arts. The land has strong Mana! (energy) On the way to Green Sands Beach you can still see remains of the rock hale's (houses) and stone Heiau's (temples) of these Ancient Hawaiian's. Our Neighborhood (South Point Road) is full of farms growing Macadamia nuts, coffee, and various other offerings. There are 2 quaint coffee shops in the town of Na'alehu (of which South Point is a part of) is so quaint with the famous Punalu'u Bakery, Ka'u coffee plantations, Hana Hau restaurant, gas and small store. It is about an 8 minute drive into the heart of Na'alehu. Na'alehu Farmers Market is on Wednesdays and Saturdays! You will see why Mark Twain loved it here! Volcano's National Park and Thurston Lava Tube is about a 40 minute drive. Kahuku National Park is 1.5 miles away. Green Sand Beach is at the bottom of our road, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach is about 15 minute drive and Whittington Beach Park is also down the road. Ocean View and Naalehu both have simple home style restaurants and each are about a 7 mile drive. For Groceries, if you are not stopping at Costco in Kona, then Ocean View is the best option as there are 2 large markets there to obtain groceries. Registration details TA-015-401-5744-01
