THE Kūʻau/ Pāʻia AREA REMAIN UNAFFECTED BY FIRES. Kūʻau on Maui's north shore offers uncrowded access to unique beaches, the best proximity to Mama's Fish House, Pāʻia town, Road to Hāna, Haleakalā National Park, Kahului airport, and more. I host this condo to invite people of all backgrounds to connect with the natural environment and cultures of Maui. I take pride in managing my business with Aloha ʻĀina, which means I am committed to respecting Maui's land and people. This private one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo is suitable for couples, small families, adventurers, business travelers, and kamaʻāina looking to experience Maui’s north shore. Away from the resorts, near walkable downtown Pāʻia, two minutes to the beach, and right on the Road to Hāna- there is lots to explore! Sleep on the king-size bed fit with a Tuft & Needle memory foam mattress, all cotton & fair-trade linens, and medium-firm down pillows. Clerestory windows let in the breeze and natural light and blackout curtains darken the room. The tradewinds keep the unit mostly cool, but there are ceiling and floor fans for warmer nights. There is no air conditioning; Keep in mind that Maui is a tropical environment and can get warm and humid. The closet is spacious and equipped with a luggage rack and hangers. I also provide a pack-n-play crib, laundry supplies, extra linens and pillows, a steamer, and a Rapid ʻOhiʻa Death Decontamination kit. The bathroom is stocked with zero-waste soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, tampons, a blow dryer, and organic cotton towels. The walk-in shower has a fixed waterfall head and faucet. Bathroom door can be locked from the inside. The kitchen is supplied with all new appliances: a French press coffee maker, electric stove, oven, cookware, cutting boards, knife set, microwave, toaster, kettle, reusable insulated bottles, Pyrex containers, dishwasher, compost bin, cooler, Brita filter, olive oil, s&p, and spices. All textiles are cotton, plastic is minimal, and recycling & composting are encouraged. The living room has views of the backyard, coconut trees, and a charming neighborhood. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a sliding door make for a transitional space from indoors to outdoors. The brand-new queen-sized sleeper sofa features a super comfortable memory foam mattress. Light-filtering curtains give privacy and darkness. The smart TV has cable and access to streaming services. WiFi is free and fast. Books for adults & kids, a yoga mat, cards, a board game, and local brochures are provided. The private patio features a dining table that seats four, morning shade, and the ocean breeze. The lawn is great for kids, picnics, tanning, or a game of frisbee. It’s just a two-minute walk from the patio to the beach! Some beach essentials are provided: four towels, two folding chairs, a rain umbrella, and a lantern; (no snorkel gear or beach umbrella). Access the beach at your own risk. What makes my place eco-friendly? The products and materials provided are carefully chosen to be the best sustainable and fair-trade options. The construction and design addresses waste minimization & management, energy & water efficiency, indoor air pollution, and more. Cleaning is done mindfully with non-toxic products and zero-waste principles. The entire condo unit to yourself... Ground floor level gives easy access and expanded sense of space to the shared backyard. Private gate for easy walking to the beach. Access beach at your own risk. Washer, dryers in separate and shared laundry house. One reserved parking stall directly outside the unit. I will let you enjoy your vacation privately, but feel free to message me. If necessary, I can usually show up in a matter of minutes. Kūʻau Plaza: My unit is one of several vacation rentals in the only condominium in the area. It has views of the backyard and attractive houses owned by Mama’s. The area is safe and visitor-friendly. Kū‘au Cove: two minute walk to a secluded white sand beach with a calm tidepool and honu (sea turtles). Kū‘au Store: one minute walk to a convenience store with a deli, smoothie bar, and kombucha on-tap. Mama’s Fish House: one minute walk to a world-class oceanfront dining experience. Downtown Pāʻia: one mile to diverse restaurants, boutiques, health food grocer. Hoʻokipa: one mile to a large beach park with tide pools, honu, monk seals, surf, windsurfing, lifeguards, pavilions, showers, and bathrooms. Road to Hāna: Right on Hāna Hwy! Get ahead of the crowd. Makawao: Another historical town uphill from Pāʻia on Baldwin Avenue with stylish shops, restaurants, and Makawao forest. Haleakalā Hwy: Keep going up and you're on your way to Haleakalā National Park, the volcano summit and crater at 10,000ft elevation. You might even see snow! Weather in Kūʻau is tropical and exposed to the north shore's sunny, windy weather. Summer is warm, sunny, and breezy with trade winds. Late summer is hurricane season in Hawaiʻi, which may mean rain or stronger winds, but hurricanes are often much more mild than forecasted for Maui. Fall brings lighter winds and higher temperatures. "Winter" in Maui means big surf, salt air, calm wind, and occasional showers. Springtime has comfortable temperatures, blooming flowers everywhere, and peaceful ocean waters. Walk to: Kū‘au Cove, Kū‘au Store, Mama’s Fish House Bike to: Downtown Pāʻia, Baldwin Beach Park, Hoʻokipa Beach Park, Makawao town Public Transportation: Maui Public Bus - There is a Maui Bus stop at Kūʻau Store with access to and from Kahului Airport and all around the island for $2. The Haʻikū Islander #35 bus departs Kahului Airport Pick-Up Zone #3 at 2:44pm and stops at Kūʻau Store at 3:02pm. It also departs Kūʻau Store at 10:55am and arrives at the airport at 11:13am. I would be happy to help you coordinate and understand bus logistics. Rentals: Turo Hui Car Share Aloha Motorsports Bike Maui RideShare: Holoholo Lyft Turo Shuttles/ Taxi Services: Akina Tours & Transportation CB Taxi Maui Polynesian Adventure Tours SpeediShuttle Maui Airport Shuttle No air conditioning – Trade winds usually keep the unit cool. There are two ceiling fans and floor fans. Potential for noise – The condominium is on the makai (ocean side) of Hāna Highway, so there is street noise, especially in the bedroom. Closing the windows and turning on the fan dampens the noise. Walls and ceiling are cement, making it quiet from surrounding neighbors. Presence of insects - Hawai‘i is a tropical environment, therefore insects may be seen in & outdoors year-round. Spot-treatment is done indoors as-needed in safe areas. Building maintenance includes quarterly outdoor spraying. The most common pests that you may see include ants, small beetles, gnats, geckos, and cockroaches. Store all food & drinks in the fridge or airtight containers, and clean up crumbs and spills thoroughly. Keep the screen door closed to keep them out. *No refunds or adjustments for pest control issues. I’ll be happy to help if a problem needs to be treated. No smoking building - Smoking/ vaping is not allowed indoors or outdoors near the building. Beach access is not ADA accessible and can be steep or slippery. Access at your own risk. Snorkel gear and beach umbrella not provided.
