Tradewinds, loft into this spacious condo. Poi pu kai resort offers swimming, tennis & yoga along the green belt walkway to poi pu beach. It is also near the grand hyatt that adds music, luau, golf, sunrise pastries & coffee above shipwreck beach. Kauai is magical & beautiful. I like the condo because it has open living space with high ceilings. It is located ocean side of poi pu road so there is no traffic walking to the beach. The trade winds and fans cool it. It looks out over lovely tropical plantings to the the middle courtyard where the pool is, so you can see who in the family is barbecuing or swimming when you get back from whatever you have been doing . There is no life guard at the pool so children have to be accompanied by you. It closes at 10:00 pm. You are in poi pu kai resort which offers 2 swimming pools, a tennis court, and a greenbelt walk way to two beautiful beaches. There are 5 restaurants within walking distance but we more enjoy shopping at the 2 local farmers markets and cooking together in the kitchen or BBQ down by the pool We are not on the island. We have a maid who cleans after your stay and she may be willing to come and clean during your stay if you contact us in advance. We also have a handy man. You will have my number to call and the maids number and poi pu kai security. All these numbers are in a folder on the kitchen counter in the condo. Here is what we love and why we go once or twice a year to kauai Big Beautiful skys with moving clouds in them The sound of the doves and the far off roosters The gentle tradewinds creating movement in the palms above us and the banana leaves below and soft air lofting through the curtains in all the living spaces The scent of tropical flowers The easy green belt walk to two different beautiful beaches. One of them at the locals beach park and one at the Grand Hyatt resort. We frequent the Hyatt above shipwreck beach for the following The morning coffee and sunrise on their veranda above amazing gardens The music at night in the Stevenson's library bar The hula and tiki dancers and the torch lighting before sunset. We frequent Brennekes beach for the boogie boarding and the turtle and monk seal sightings. go at night and watch them swim in to sleep. And...for really wonderful snorkeling and surfing, we like the beach just beyond Brennekes, in front of the Marriot Waiohai. Between the two is a small childrens protected ocean swimming area and a play structure in the beach park. For our sunsets we love shipwreck rock at the Hyatt and the lawn at the beach house restaurant (which is also an awesome snorkeling spot) You will want to take your car to this spot but way worth it. Away from the condo by car: We love our trips to the north shore to hike the napali coast, to stand up paddle on hanalei bay, kayak up the rivers or out to the ocean and snorkel at tunnels or ke'e beach. Also we love the waimea canyon overlook and the hike to the Alikai swamp beyond there to an over look of hanelei bay when the sky is clear. We have yet to hike to the base of MT. WAIALEALE in kauais rain forest, This is one of the top 10 wettest places on earth. Let us know if you make this trek. We want to hear about it. We love walking out the door and down to the pool at night to look up at the stars while relaxing in the hot tub or floating on our backs in the pool and watching the palm trees sway...its heaven There is a bus to koloa but I would have a rental car. You can also rent bikes and scooters in koloa. Please buy Alba sunscreen that is reef friendly before you come to protect the coral reefs. Some of us wear sun screened shirts in the water instead of lotions. They can be found at sporting good stores. We provide a Britta filter and reusable hydra flask water bottles at the condo and so please don’t buy plastic water bottles while on island. There is no where to dispose of them and we don't want them in the ocean. Kauai has the highest rainfall in the world so the water is fresh and good. Hawaii & kauai charge a general excise tax (4.75%) total. Hawaii has a transient occupancy tax (10.25%) Kauai county charges and additional (3%) transient occupancy tax so these taxes will be added to your base rate that we have charged you and the taxes will be paid to the state of Hawaii and county of Kauai. Air bnb is now calculating those taxes and collecting funds from you. The cancellation policy is this: STRICT 50% refund only if you cancel before 30 days of arrival. This is because Hawaii always books far in advance due to airplane deals and we only allow 1 week minimum stays so there are no last minute bookings. Thank you for your understanding. This is common on Hawaii. We recommend purchasing trip insurance which is not too pricey and refunds your money under common circumstances that prevent travel. The bed configuration is this: King bed in the master bedroom with a full master bath Two twin beds in the second bedroom with full bath across the hall Queen bed in the loft bedroom with a half bath...(no tub or shower up there) The Loft bedroom also has a day bed that is comfortable and is regular adult size. The loft is a good size semiprivate bedroom space open to the living room below. For kid sleeping, We have available an eddie bauer play yard for a baby which is firm and can be used as a crib if the baby is not able to crawl out of it and you are advised by Eddie Bauer not to use any pads in it other than the one it comes with, for your babies safety. We have a single airbed or a foam mattress, each of which can be put on the floor in the master or living room if you need more beds. We have a high chair, a bob stroller, and a booster chair for small children. I like juicing so I took over a vita mixer. You can pulse it to chop food or dial up the speed to puree for the baby and you can make smoothies and soups from the local fruits and vegetables at the farmers market or you can throw in ice and juices and make blended exotic drinks. The kitchen is also stocked with what utensils you will need for cooking or barbecuing. We buy our food mainly at costco in Lihue or at the big save in koloa town. We buy our veggies and fruits at the two farmers markets The Monday Market is at 12:00 noon at Anne Knudsen park in koloa which has gone on for years and the Wednesday afternoon market has music and is located at the kukui 'ula shopping center which is a new out door shopping center with nice ambiance In the master closet, you can access beach chairs and a beach umbrella, a blue cooler, a few sets of divers swim fins, 2 boogie boards, and some kids sand and play toys. We are hoping guests will add to this closet collection of fun toys for other kids. snorkels or masks or fins, tennis gear etc. also ... fish or bird guide books would be awesome.
