Description

Welcome to Haiku Garden Cottages, a licensed farmstay & BnB on Maui’s North Shore (Permit BBPH2017/0002). Lōkahi is a charming cottage where you can sip coffee on the screened-in lanai, pick seasonal fruit, and settle into island rhythms. The open living area flows to a lanai and deck with ocean and garden views, plus a private outdoor shower—perfect after exploring Haleakalā, the Road to Hāna, nearby beaches, hiking trails, restaurants, and farmers markets. The space Step into Lokahi, a serene retreat designed for those who want to live close to the land and experience the gentle rhythms of farm life. Inside, the open-concept living area features two sets of 8-foot sliding glass doors that walk onto a 200 sq ft screened-in porch, overlooking gentle green pastures that stretch down to the distant ocean. The porch embodies the true essence of Hawaiian living and is complemented by a private deck, outdoor shower, and electric grill, perfect for savoring quiet mornings or evening sunsets. Lokahi’s interiors are designed for comfort and connection. Enjoy soft cotton linens, memory foam mattresses, hardwood floors, and ceiling fans in every room. The bathroom features a shower, tub, and plenty of bath towels, while a large interior closet houses a washer and dryer for guest use. Beach towels, umbrellas, coolers, guidebooks, and an abundance of aloha are also provided to make your stay effortless and relaxing. The farm itself is a highlight of your stay. Roam the property freely and savor seasonal fruits from our lychee, avocado, banana, passionfruit, mango, starfruit, orange, and guava trees — a living invitation to connect with the land and taste its bounty. Lokahi is located in the quiet, tropical town of Haʻikū on Maui’s North Shore. It sits next door to Malie cottage, sharing a private acre, making it a great option for families or groups traveling together while still enjoying private spaces. The property is a short drive from beaches, hikes, parks, restaurants, and local markets, and we recommend renting a car, as rideshares and public transportation are limited. Haʻikū enjoys a comfortable year-round climate. While the cottage does not have a heater or air conditioning — rarely needed in this part of the island — ceiling fans and cross-ventilating windows keep the space airy. For cooler nights, extra blankets are provided so you can stay cozy while listening to the wind move through the trees. Guest access Guests at Haiku Garden Cottages Farm Sanctuary enjoy full access to their cottages and the surrounding farm grounds. You are welcome to: Explore the farm – wander lush gardens, pick seasonal fruit, and enjoy tropical flowers in bloom. Relax on your lanai or deck – sip morning coffee or evening tea while taking in garden and ocean views. Use full cottage amenities – kitchens, fast Wi-Fi, outdoor showers, and laundry facilities. Connect with nature – listen to the birds, watch the trade winds move through the trees, and soak in the gentle rhythms of island life. Discover Maui’s wild beauty – easy access to Haleakalā National Park, the Road to Hana, waterfalls, beaches, hiking trails, local restaurants, and farmers markets. Our goal is for guests to feel fully immersed in the farm stay experience while having the freedom to explore the island’s landscapes, culture, and traditions at your own pace. Other things to note Other Things to Note 🌿 Farm & Tropical Environment Our cottages sit on a working organic farm in Maui’s lush, tropical environment. While we partner with an eco-friendly pest control company, you may still encounter ants, mosquitoes, or other tropical insects—and our friendly geckos may stop by too! These creatures are a normal part of island life and the vibrant ecosystem we cherish. If you prefer a completely bug-free environment, this may not be the perfect fit—but for most guests, these little visitors are part of the farm experience. Climate & Comfort Haʻikū enjoys comfortable temperatures year-round. Our cottages do not have central A/C or heat, as they are rarely needed, but ceiling fans, tower fans, and open windows keep the spaces airy. For the occasional warm day or cool night, extra blankets are provided so you can stay cozy. House Rules & Quiet Enjoyment Our homes are smoke-free, pet-free, and drug-free, to maintain an allergy-friendly space for all guests. The cottages are located in a quiet family neighborhood—no loud music or parties. Please observe quiet hours from 10pm–8am, and drive slowly on the property (5 mph). Accessibility & Families Our cottages are not wheelchair accessible. Families with children are welcome, but we ask that meals and drinks be enjoyed in the dining areas to keep the home tidy. At check-out, please leave the cottage as you found it. Our homes are not fully baby-proofed and do not provide infant-specific sleeping or eating accommodations beyond what’s noted in the listing. We appreciate your respect for the land, the home, and the rhythms of island life—helping ensure a peaceful, restorative experience for all guests.
