Kuleana is conveniently located between Ka'anapali and Kapalua resorts in West Maui. We take pride in providing our guests a clean and comfortable accommodation! The space *Important update: The fires that destroyed historic Lahaina Town on August 8th did not physically affect Kuleana, but people and businesses across the island were impacted. We welcome visitors back to Kuleana, but ask those who come do so with compassion and respect. Please be mindful that people are still grieving the loss of loved ones, homes, and workplaces. We ask that visitors: - Please do not stop on the Lahaina Bypass to view or take photos of the burn zones. Lahaina Town is off-limits to anyone who is not a resident or essential worker authorized to be in those zones. - Please do not ask people about their homes and families. If they want to share their stories, they will offer them. If not, please respect their privacy. - Some businesses are not yet re-opened; others have modified hours and services. - A portion of your nightly rate will be donated to families and individuals who lost their home in the tragic fire. Our 1-bedroom condo is nicely appointed with stainless steel appliances and comfortable furniture, including a memory foam king-size bed as well as a memory foam sleeper sofa (suitable for 1 adult or 2 children). Our top floor, corner location is ideal, and convenient free parking is only half a flight of stairs and steps away from the front door. The bedroom has an air conditioner, and we have two laundry rooms available onsite. Included with your rental is private WIFI, cable TV, and great beach gear. You will have all the necessities for cooking and the option to dine inside or outdoors on the beautiful ocean-view lanai. Kuleana is a special place! It’s no wonder why so many visitors return to this beautiful oceanfront property year after year. With two sandy beaches (accessibility may vary depending on the surf), an oceanfront BBQ area, tennis court, and a large heated swimming pool, you are guaranteed to have a relaxing stay. The 7 acre grounds are spacious and meticulously maintained. From swaying palm trees to colorful plumeria and hibiscus, our guests feel like they’re truly in Hawaii. If the mesmerizing sounds of waves crashing and breathtaking sunsets don’t make your vacation, the multitude of Hawaiian green sea turtles likely will. The “honus” are year-round residents at Kuleana, and our guests love to watch them from the shore or even snorkel with them right out front of our property. During whale season, the humpbacks cruise by frequently, and often jump and splash for all to see! Our ocean-view lanai is a great place for whale watching! Kuleana is perfectly situated between the resort areas of Ka’anapali and Kapalua on the upper west coast of Maui. A short drive will allow you to explore a multitude of beaches, walking trails, scenic look-outs, shopping areas, and world class golf courses. You may not need to drive too much, because within one mile, you can find some great restaurants, coffee shops, a farmers market, grocery store, micro-brewery, a mini market/deli, a food truck park, and two other beaches. Nearby, local shops rent surfboards, SUP boards, snorkeling gear, and golf equipment. About 3 miles south is the exciting Ka'anapali Resort area, which includes the famous Ka'anapali Beach, snorkeling at Black Rock, paddle boarding, kayaking, parasailing (seasonal), catamaran excursions, spas, golf, and shopping/dining at Whalers Village. Boats for snorkeling, dinner cruises, and fishing depart from the beach in front of Whalers. Both Ka'anapali and Kapalua have luau shows and weekly arts and craft fairs. World-class (winter season-expert only) surfing is located a few miles north of the Kuleana resort at Honolua Bay, or you can surf locally on the more mellow waves right at the Kuleana resort. Walk a few blocks up to nearby S-Turns for another great surf break (winter season). In summer, you can often find great surf just south in Ka'anapali. Just 3 miles north is Kapalua Resort, which also offers championship golfing, fine-dining, shopping, spas, snorkeling, SUP, and more amazing beaches! Maui is home to the famous Road to Hana, Haleakala National Park, and so much more. We will leave a guide book for you on the coffee table, but some experiences do require advance reservations, so keep this in mind. Other things to note Please note: The bedroom air conditioner works wonderfully, but it is not meant to cool the entire condo. When the tradewinds are blowing, it's usually quite comfortable throughout our space, but the afternoons/evenings can be warm in the summer time. We do have ceiling fans and an oscillating fan in the living room for your comfort. While the ocean is a wonderful playground, we recommend that you exercise caution when entering and exiting the water. Swells come and go, and some days are very calm and inviting, while others bring waves and pounding shore break to our various beaches. The two beaches in front of Kuleana are usually accessible, however they too can change with the seasons and swells. As we often say in Hawaii, WHEN IN DOUBT, DON'T GO OUT! Additionally, coral is a living organism, so we discourage visitors from touching the live coral. Our amazing green sea turtles are protected, and it's illegal to touch them, so please respect their space and their habitat. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email or call us!
