Oversized open air shower room. Airbath easily fits two. Two king bedrooms, an antique day bed (twin size). Note: upstairs has a semi-open floor plan. Still, the space is large enough so that two couples have privacy. Downstairs is another full bathroom with shower. Mostly stone and glass, finished concrete (radiant heat) floors downstairs. Which means it stays cool in the summer. Mod meets romantic meets wabi-sabi/shabby-chic/eco-conscious. Non-human animals: Reasonably well-behaved dogs of all sizes and descriptions are welcome, other species of pet not necessarily a problem since the street majority of our guests are super-considerate. Good to know - we are on five acres, with town forest behind us. If our neighbors behave (and we really do have nice neighbors) it is often completely(!) quiet. An adorable A-frame guest cabin is also on the property, which is often available as well. Very modest media center, really just a flat screen with very basic cable. DVD player and Chromecast. We like to give you as much privacy as possible, but are always available by text, phone or email to address any concerns. Scenery is gorgeous year round. Fall leaves are breathtaking, if you like to bike, we are at the top of a hill and you can coast down to the Granville Gorge and splash around, then get a real workout riding home. Rural community famous for apple and peach orchards, pick your own berries, and small dairies. How to get here: We are @ 2 1/2 hours from both NYC and Boston. One option is to take Amtrak, Peter Pan Express, or MetroNorth and then rent a car. Or just rent a car. If the timing is right and you just want a place to hide for a few days we can pick you up from Hartford or Springfield. It's a cozy home base for apple, peach, and berry-pickers, antique lovers, skiers and boarders (small downhill slopes are close by, great for first-timers). Just around the corner is really good cross-country. For serious hikers the famous Tunxis trail is walking/hiking distance. or a short 10 min drive to a trail head. Equine and a Wilderness Adventures outfit also a short drive. The Granville Gorge is good for cooling off, but the Barkhamsted Reservoir has a "secret" public beach (Lake McDonough), which is equally popular with locals. Westfield and Southwick is a 20 min drive away, restaurants and antiques and supermarkets etc. Granby, Ct is 15 min in the opposite direction. Longer excursions include Northampton, Amherst, Great Barrington and Stockbridge. Also Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow for music and dance. All from 45 to 1 hour away.
