Secluded Camping with River Access - Kayaking!

Welcome to Riverview Retreat. No matter what time of year you stay, you will be immersed in nature in this spot on a secluded, private 21-acre property. Wildflowers bloom in spring, summer and fall and you can see deer in the nearby woods. This site is a short walk to the Shell Rock River. Enjoy music on the outside speaker, cook on the grill or firepit provided and eat dinner on the picnic table. Then take a stroll over to the west side of the property to see the river or walk some trails. The space This property is located 4 miles from the Waverly Walmart with convenient access to a gas station or multiple options for dinner. UNI and downtown Cedar Falls are approximately a 20-minute drive. You can find games under the table bench seat or play a DVD. Don't see a movie you like? We can bring over some other options! To inquire about availability of kayaks for your stay, please message us prior to coming with a date and number you would like to reserve. You can bring 2 vehicles and transport them yourselves or set up time for us to drop off or pick up for $25 between Shell Rock and Janesville/Cedar Falls. We provide a basic life jacket and a paddle. We have outdoor games such as cornhole bags, Connect 4 and Jenga available upon request. The area in front of the camper has a fire pit with a cooking grate, a picnic table and a shelter plus additional camping chairs. There is a tabletop grill, 1 - 16 oz propane cylinder will be provided. There is an outdoor cooler perfect for drinks and s'mores and hotdog sticks. This camper is dog-friendly. We can provide a small or medium crate upon request. Please do not leave dogs unattended inside the camper. There are 4 cats that roam the property and they love to be petted. Guest access The area in front of the camper has a fire pit, a picnic table and a shelter. On the west side of the property, you can follow the river and walk the trails. Other things to note This is a pet-friendly camper and while we do clean between each guest, we cannot guarantee 100% that there will be absolutely no dog hair, so please be aware of that if you have severe allergies. We do have pets on the property, but they are neutered. There are 4 cats that roam the property, but they are very nice. We reserve the right to refuse a booking based on aggressive animal breeds, please let us know what kind of pet you have. Make sure to keep them on a leash or contained and not unattended in the camper. We do have a small and medium pet crate available to use. Please pick up after your pet. There are a few chickens and 1 rooster that free range. They are curious and may run up to you thinking you have food if you come near their area, but they are not harmful. No smoking inside the camper please. KAYAKING - PLEASE NOTE: The water access is a river, not a lake. Most times of the year, especially after some rain, it is not appropriate or safe to strictly swim in due to the current. There are times of the year at the end of the season where you can walk part way across. Kayaking is great! We do it as often as we can. Routes: Drop off in Shell Rock and get out at our property. It is approximately 3 miles or 1 1/2 hours depending on river level. When it is lower water, there are rock/sand bars. Our property to Janesville Public Access is about 6 miles. Our property to the Cedar Wapsi Road Public Access is 9 miles. And the longest point you can travel to is Island Park in Cedar Falls, near downtown, 12 miles +. Liability Waiver: You understand that swimming, hiking and the use of a kayak is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with swimming, hiking and using a kayak. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising from swimming, hiking and use of a kayak and hold owner harmless. You understand there are potential dangers that swimming, hiking and the use of kayaks may present to children who are not carefully supervised, as well as the danger to any person swimming, hiking or using the kayaks if a person has health risks, or if a person swims, hikes or uses the kayaks while intoxicated or using any kind of drugs or medication, or while pregnant. You agree to be fully and solely responsible for any accidents you may incur. You understand the risks discussed above and agree that you will assume all responsibility for yourself and for the consequences of those in your party. You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against owner for accidents or claims arising from swimming, hiking or using the kayaks. All Airbnb Guests in my party acknowledge and agree that they have read and understand this waiver and they acknowledge that confirming below constitutes a binding and enforceable contract between Airbnb Guests and Airbnb Host.
