Newly remodeled guest house with private access through a side alley way. The detached building is separate and behind the main house; you can come and go as you please. We are located 2 blocks from Lake Ponchartrain with its walking and biking path and 15-20 minutes from downtown and the French Quarter. Rental must be a minimum of 30 days. Due to a Jefferson Parish ordinance limiting Short Term Rentals, our listing can only accommodate MINIMUM stays of 30 days. It is suitable for people staying in the area for at least 30 days and who need a corporate rental, fully furnished. It could easily accommodate traveling nurses, business people or those contracted with the movie industry. A separate written lease will need to be signed. Our property is a recently remodeled mother-in-law apartment that is approximately 400 square feet. The bed is a full/double size and is roomy for one person. (Please note: It is NOT a queen size bed.) Bathroom is newly remodeled and has a shower. There is a window heating and air conditioning unit that can be adjusted to your comfort level as well as a ceiling fan. Window blinds and room darkening curtains are present to adjust for your privacy and for the amount of light desired. A mini-refrigerator and microwave are in the unit along with cutlery, dishes, glasses and Pyrex bowls that can be used for microwave cooking or food storage. We have a large horseshoe shaped driveway in front of our house for convenient off street parking of your vehicle. To gain access, you will enter through the gate located in the front of the main house on the left. Keys to the rental will be provided in person upon your arrival. You will also have access to the back yard and patio area. The guest house area will be all yours. The main house area will be ours. Washer and dryer in our house will be available for your laundry needs once a week. For the most part, there will be someone home or we can be reached by phone. We are very happy to help you with questions about restaurants, directions or attractions. We have maps in the guest house, as well as other reading material about New Orleans. Our neighborhood is called Ponchartrain Shores, a very quiet and secure area of Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans. Our house is located just 2 blocks from Lake Ponchartrain. There is a walking/bike path along the shoreline. The French Quarter, Superdome and downtown New Orleans are about 10 miles away (a 15-20 minute drive depending on time of day). The Fair Ground Race Course (where Jazzfest is held) is 9.8 miles away. Clearview Shopping Center is about 2 miles away and Lakeside Shopping Center is about 3 miles away. Two grocery stores and two drugstores are within a one mile radius of our house. In case of an emergency, East Jefferson Hospital is about 1.5 miles away. If you do not have a car, bus service is about 2 miles away on Veterans Boulevard. However, taxi or Uber service is more convenient.
