The bathroom features rustic metal from area barns. Powered entirely by solar, this suite blends history, sustainability, and modern comfort—just steps from shops, parks, and dining. The space Suite C is located on the first floor with easy access from the parking area—no stairs required. The suite has a warm, rustic feel due to the reclaimed materials used throughout, so guests should expect a cozy, cabin-style atmosphere rather than a modern, cookie-cutter design. A few helpful notes: Two-Bedroom Layout: Both bedrooms are private and separate from the living/kitchen area. Open-Concept Living Space: The kitchen, dining, and living room flow together in one open area. Temperature: Because of the reclaimed materials and corrugated steel ceiling, the suite stays comfortably cool. Additional heating and cooling are available for your comfort. Sound: Like many historic downtown buildings, you may occasionally hear light street activity or nearby businesses during the day. Evenings are typically quiet. Parking: Free parking is available steps from the entrance. Walkable Location: Guests can easily walk to shops, restaurants, bars, the riverwalk, and parks. Sustainable Power: The entire suite runs on solar energy, so please help us conserve energy when possible. Other things to note Handcrafted Space: Suite C was built using reclaimed wood, steel, and flood-recovered materials. Power is reliable, but we encourage guests to turn off lights and AC/heat when not needed. Historic Downtown Building: As with many older buildings, some surfaces aren’t perfectly modern or newly constructed—but everything is clean, functional, and intentionally preserved for character. Quiet Hours: Elkader is a peaceful town. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 7 AM. No Smoking: Smoking or vaping is not allowed inside the suite. Bug Awareness: Being in a river town surrounded by nature, occasional bugs may find their way inside despite regular cleaning and pest control. Parking: Free parking is available immediately outside the suite. Stairs to Street Level: While the suite itself is on the first floor, the building sits slightly above street level.
