Quiet, Downtown, Close to the Ocean
Our second floor apartment has beautiful ocean and mountain views with enough space for 2-6 guests. You can enjoy the ocean breeze or cool off with a/c, walk to all the downtown restaurants or create meals in the full kitchen. This space is especially nice for longer vacations. TA (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Our Big Island apartment is located right next to downtown Kona. You can easily walk to restaurants, beaches, bars, live music, shops and markets. Even though our apartment is close to the action, our space is completely private, very quiet and comfortably settled in gated Ali'i Cove. As our guest, you have access to all parts of your private apartment and lanai at all times. Shared areas of the complex include the work-out room, BBQ areas and the pool/spa which are all open from 6:30am-9:30pm everyday. We want you to enjoy your apartment as your own while you're on the island. We offer you a lock box outside the front door to gain access to your space the first time without having to coordinate with anyone. We will stay in touch through email before and during your stay to exchange all the important details. The apartment is fully prepared for you therefore, unless you need us, we'll stay out of your way during your vacation. However, we do live here and can always be a phone call away if needed. Our neighborhood includes other apartments and homes as well as part of the downtown area. There is a Mexican restaurant and a massage parlor practically next door, and across the street you can have a drink at Don's Mai Tai Bar or try Huggo's for dancing. Steps away there is Bongo Ben's and Lava Java for breakfast, Humpy's Ale House and many, many more restaurants and shops right down the drive! The complex itself is gated and therefore sees hardly any traffic, making it easy to walk all around the property. Outside the gates you can easily walk, bike, scoot or drive around Kona and the island. There is an inexpensive "Hele-on" bus transit that travels all the way around the island and you can always hire a taxi anywhere when needed. We recommend renting your own car since our island is actually quite big and there is so much to see. Please know that at the beginning of each month our city tests the tsunami sirens. Please don't be alarmed, this is very normal. A real warning means the sirens are non-stop and impossible to ignore. Please also be aware of energy consumption and recycling options while in our apartment and on the island. Power costs in Hawaii can be 3x's the average cost of energy on the US mainland. Hawaii recycles as often or more often than we dump in the landfill. There are recycling drops near every trash bin, please recycle whenever possible.
