Enjoy the beautiful waterfront or a peaceful stroll through this welcoming old city. Our house has private parking for 2 cars and a lovely private fenced in backyard to enjoy a nice bbq. The house is historic, but with many modern updates. The perfect place to stay if you like your own space. Rustic with a modern touch. New appliances and well geared for self catering. Great for traveling with kids and or dogs. You have your own modern kitchen and nice private backyard. We welcome certain pets. If you like to bring your dog or dogs with you on your trip, this is perfect. The backyard is closed so the pets are safe. We have dogs and love to travel. That's how we learned that it can be very challenging to find accommodations that can cater for families with pets. There is a gas grill in the fenced in back yard, so you and your family can enjoy a nice bbq outside. Lots of old trees that provide shade. You can walk downtown. You end up walking everywhere in Salem anyway because everything is pretty close together. There is also the Salem Trolley that stops at all major areas and attractions. Or you can use Uber or Lyft and get anywhere downtown in a couple of minutes. Get to Boston by train, seasonal ferry, Uber, Lyft or drive in yourself. Logan airport is about 30-45 minutes by car depending on traffic. We provide clean linens and towels. This house was built in 1857 and is in the McIntire Historic District. Please note, this house has stairs and no elevator. This house is not The Ritz. We have had 3 guests in the last 3+ years complain about certain things in the house. If you are that type of person, please do not book with us, you will hate your trip to Salem. Leave us alone and go make someone else's life miserable. The shower has no extra fancy features, it's just a shower. If this is a problem for you, please do not book with us. Find yourself a better place. Guests will have access to the whole house. The McIntire Historic District is Salem's historic district with old colonial houses that are centuries old. Walk the old streets and enjoy the splendor. Downtown is about a 15 minute walk, half a mile. You don't have to worry about finding parking downtown if you walked. The neighborhood is very safe. Overall, Salem is very centrally located in the area with a vibrant downtown. Almost a 100 restaurants to pick from in a small area. Any foodie's dream! Salem has a lovely waterfront where you can stroll, relax, eat, drink and be merry. The Salem Ferry goes to Boston several times per day. It is a 45 minute scenic boat ride. A must do while you are in the area. Enjoy a nice refreshment on the boat while you cruise down the coast and through Boston harbor. The ferry lands right by the Aquarium in the Boston historic harbor area. There is also a train that goes to Boston and surrounding areas several times each day. To Boston it is a 30 minute ride. Very convenient. Logan International Airport is between 30-45 minutes away, depending on traffic. Explore Gloucester and Rockport, 30 minutes away. Checkout is no later than 10am. There is a CCTV camera by the front door overlooking the driveway for our guest's safety.
