Charming Jungle Cabin Hale Niu- under coconut tree

Description

Tucked under coconut palms on our family homestead in downtown Pāhoa, this handcrafted jungle cabin is a peaceful, soulful space to unwind. Enjoy a full kitchen with propane burners, blender, toaster oven, French press, and local hardwood counters made with love. Rainfall shower, fast Wi-Fi. Walk to shops, restaurants in minutes. Sleep soundly with blackout curtains and wake to birdsong and the soft rustle of palms. A unique stay where nature, comfort, and creativity meet in the heart of Puna. The space This unit is located right in old Pahoa village, walking distance to restaurants, bars, churches, county park, and free public pool. The space is clean, newly renovated, and fully insulated. THERE is no AC! Guest access There is a washer and dryer available in the carport for your shared use. We are a toxin-free Household and ask that you use the eco friendly laundry soap provided Other things to note IMPORTANT: Life in Tropical Hawaii 🌴 Welcome to our lovingly renovated cabin nestled in the lush jungle of rural Hawaii! We’ve worked hard to create a space that is airy, clean, and healthy — and we also share it with the vibrant life of the tropics. We treat and clean regularly, but jungle neighbors like geckos, frogs, sugar ants, fruit flies, and the occasional roach are part of life here. We especially ask for your help in keeping them outside where they belong. Please: Wash dishes promptly after use Wipe down counters and dining surfaces Store all food properly in the fridge or sealed containers This is very important, especially in the kitchen. You may occasionally spot a tiny German roach, particularly at night when the lights are turned on. Regular treatment helps, but pest control is ongoing, and we rely on guests to clean up quickly after cooking. About Tropical Living: Being in rural Hawaii means the climate is wet and full of life. After heavy rains, it’s not unusual for critters to sneak in through doors or hidden cracks. If you're especially sensitive to insects or prefer a completely sealed environment, you may want to consider one of the drier 13 climates found elsewhere on the Big Island — or a hotel setting instead of our unique jungle retreat. ➡️ Refunds will not be issued due to the natural presence of bugs or tropical wildlife. This is a normal part of living close to nature in Hawaii, and we ask for your understanding and aloha. Our Family Dogs: We have two friendly dogs on site (A Labrador and Belgian Malinois). They will see them in the backyard near the unit but separated by fencing. You may hear them play or bark like a normal household but there should not be excess noise. A Note About Our Cat 🐾 You’ll likely be greeted by Macchiato, our friendly outdoor Siamese cat. He is hypoallergenic for many, but not all — so if you're allergic or don’t enjoy cats, this may not be the best fit for you. While Macchiato loves affection and is happy to hang out with guests on the entryway bench, please do not let him inside the house. Thank you so much for helping us keep this home clean, peaceful, and in harmony with nature. Mahalo!
