Surrounded by mountains, forested greenery, a pond and creek, you will find the peace and simplicity you are looking for here. The space We built this off-grid oasis with one thing in mind - simple, intentional beauty. This remote retreat haven includes a creek, a spring fed pond, meadow, and majestic wooded surroundings. Due to the rural location (surrounded by National Forest), you'll have access to hiking trails, lakes, ponds, and rivers literally within walking distance. Relax, go for a run, hike into the mountains, swim, whatever suits your fancy. We operate fully off-grid with all the modern amenities including radiant floor heat, solar panels, a backup generator for a fully self sufficient system. This owner built craftsman style home is well lit with lots of windows and cozy rustic charm and is equipped with everything you need for a comfy stay. You will have access to a gorgeous outdoor kitchen that is equipped with a wood fired pizza oven and propane stove. Firewood will be made available. Wood or charcoal grills available along with a gorgeous fire pit and outdoor seating (bring your own charcoal and abide by burn bans). And don't forget to enjoy some time in the wood fired sauna followed by a creek dip! This is the perfect space to call home during your next (or very first) Montana visit. (Summer months) Mosquitos like to make themselves known in the summer months (especially June + July) so do keep all windows and doors without screen closed and bring your bug spray! We usually have some handy as well. (Winter months) It snows :-) Have a vehicle that can handle it. Guest access You will have full access to the entire home, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, wood-fired sauna, pond, all 13 acres to roam, various creek spots for swimming, and more! Other things to note We are operating fully off the grid, and although you will have full access to the wifi, there will most likely not be any cell service. However, the house is located only 15 minutes from the town of Troy where you will be able to access service. There will occasionally be other guests staying in our tiny off-grid cabin on the pond. You may see them, or you may not. Cabin guests are usually around for a night or two and will have access to the sauna as well. You will be notified if there are guests at the cabin during your stay. If you are fearful of wildlife, dirt roads, and a bug or two (or 20), skip this booking. For all other adventurers, we can't wait to host you!
