It is good practice, however, to have an emergency plan in place as this property is located in a Tsunami Evacuation Zone. Please see the map below which details the preferred routes and emergency locations for both Hurricane and Tsunami Warnings. In essence, Hurricane Shelter is provided at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center, one block West; and in case of Tsunami Warning, local residents drive up the close by Highway 552 towards Waimea Canyon / Koke`e Park. Most experts say that once you are at least 100 feet above sea level, you are out of Tsunami danger. This can be accomplished in approximately a five-minute drive from the house.
