The space Step into a charming bedroom that captures the spirit of the Big Island with its rustic, Hawaiian flair. The centerpiece is a queen-size four-poster bed, draped with fairy lights and colorful fabric, creating a cozy, magical ambiance—perfect for lying back and stargazing through the large window behind the bed, which overlooks a grassy patch and lush Ohia forest. The room features a rustic desk with an office chair for jotting down your adventures, a built-in closet with a blue curtain for storage, and two nightstands with lamps for a warm glow. Fresh, locally picked Anthuriums in a vase and a diffuser add a touch of relaxation and local charm. Hardwood floors, vibrant artwork, and a small bench at the foot of the bed complete this inviting space. Beyond the bedroom, you’ll share a spacious, rustic home with a true cabin-in-the-forest feel. The large lounge features a cast iron fireplace, white wicker couches, and a TV, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The shared kitchen boasts an island, pendant lights, and a coffee maker, while the dining room offers a cozy spot for meals. A wraparound patio with seating, tables, and a grill invites you to soak in the forest air. Guest access You’ll have your own private bedroom, secured with a key for peace of mind, in a home shared with the owner, Ward, and two friendly roommates, Andrew and Sahar. Feel at home in the shared spaces, including the large lounge with a fireplace, the fully equipped kitchen, the dining room, and the wraparound patio with a grill. The bathroom features your own dedicated sink and toilet, with a shared shower. Checkin is between 3pm and 6pm. We can accommodate a later checkin with a $50 fee. Please contact us ahead of time if you expect to checkin later than 6pm. You’ll also meet our two boisterous but cuddly Mastiffs, who love making new friends! Detailed check-in instructions will be provided before your arrival. During your stay This is a bustling household with 3 members. We can be as sociable as you'd like, but also happy to let you keep to yourself. We like to laugh! Other things to note Located in the serene, secluded Fern Forest on the Big Island, you’re just a 10-minute drive from the town of Volcano and 15 minutes from the breathtaking Volcano National Park—perfect for nature lovers and adventurers. The house is a quiet retreat with plenty of parking and just a few stairs to access. Ward, Andrew, and Sahar are a warm ohana, available via app or in-person chats to share local tips or a friendly chat, though you can choose your level of interaction. Our two Mastiffs are full of energy and love, so guests must be dog-friendly (no guest pets allowed, please). Check-in is available until 9 PM. Wi-Fi, a washer/dryer, towels, and basic toiletries are provided for your convenience.
