Read Property description for more detail on what this house has to offer! State park, fishing, biking, local ponds, rivers, waterfalls, trails & county cafe are all close by! The Jambs waterfall trail is in back of the house! 🌷Spring-Summer : Pollinator sanctuary 🍁Fall: Foliage lovers season ⛄️Winter Wonderland: Cozy & warm cabin. The space This is a rustic, spacious and beautiful log home tucked away on 8 acres in the Windsor state forest where the beautiful and mystical winter jambs trail and a swimming hole meets the back yard! The house faces the south with a spectacular view of the mountains. As It sits on open and cleared space, the sun gives natural light inside the home all day! The land is currently being turned into a native plant/pollinator sanctuary. In the right season you will see many magical insects like butterflies, dragonflies and fireflies. The mornings are filled with bird songs. The nights are very quiet and peaceful. On a clear night, make sure to look up and witness the breathtaking view of the stars! The home is a nontoxic household and backed up with the most refreshing mountain well water. No need to buy water! All sheets are 100% cotton washed with black African soap (A natural soap that every ingredient is made from the grounds of Africa). We do not use a dryer! Instead the sheets are hanged on a line outside where the earths air dries them while the fresh mountain scent naturally interwines with the cotton. Laundry detergent could never compare! The decor in the house is based on the gifts of nature and the seasons as they flow. White River quarts rocks lining the tub and bathroom windows, hanging pinecones, flowers from the land, and framed butterflies & moths whose lifeless bodies have been found or rescued. *** Note: We rescue many butterflies from the streets who most likely have gotten hit by a car. The injured butterflies are taken into the house where they are placed on flowers so they could finish their life cycles in peace. If you choose to stay during this season, you may have a rescued butterfly(s) joining in on your stay✨✨✨ Host will let you know if there is. In the spacious kitchen, the pans are cast iron with some stainless steel pots in the cabinet. All of the plates, bowls, mugs and some cups are vintage glass! The full kitchen is stocked with many amenities like a kitchen aid, kettle, toaster over, coffee grinder, some spices, toaster, and more. Lastly, in the antique hutch will be a display of jars which contain canned fruit, vegetables, dried herbs, canned juices, dried mushrooms. Everything in the jars is wildly foraged or grown on the land!. The yard is very spacious with a garden and a medium sized field dedicated to the pollinators and native plants. On the land, there is a lot of balsam fur trees a garden, lilac trees, apple trees, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. In the month of May we do not mow the grass at all. We leave all the dandelions, red clover and other flowers for the pollinators. The famous and mystical Windsor jams trail and river is right in back of the house! Following the Windsor jams trail is the jams trail which leads to the Windsor State forest campsite on river road. There is even more trails at the campsite! If you want to bike, walk, jog along a river, river road which is paved is the prefect spot! There is a swimming/fishing hole in back of the house where guests go at their own risk. (It’s not hard though) Windsor Pond, Plainfield pond, and jaw dropping hidden waterfall spots are all local! So much to do and explore but is also the perfect peaceful house to stay in and rest✨✨✨ In the winters 4 wheel drive is highly recommended. -Mid June is the start of firefly season -July-August is dragon fly season -Mid September the start of foliage season Other things to note My house is in the woods. In order not to attract forest critters, please keep the kitchen area tidy. Do not leave open food out overnight. Driveway can be tricky in the winter time. A car with all wheel drive and good tires is highly recommended. (If you booked in the winter seasons) Please keep an eye on the weather. If you decide to come for your stay knowing that there is a snow day, and you are stuck because of the roads. You will still be charged an extra day knowing that you decided to come during these weather conditions. I will cancel reservation two days before check in date due to heavy snow/blizzard weather conditions that will affect check in time or departure time.
