Lahaina Roads #311 is an updated direct oceanfront 1BR/1BA apartment with en suite laundry, split system A/C, full kitchen. We provide all linens, including beach, bath and kitchen. Beach chairs, cooler. There is a comfy queen size murphy bed in the living room if you want to sleep right on the water. We love this property for the oceanfront location, the peacefulness and the convenience to Lahaina town. Lots of restaurants and shopping are within 1-2 blocks, easy walking distance. The oceanfront pool is great. There is a BBQ right there and a library room with a fridge for pool-side dining. The steps going into the ocean from our deck can be slippery, so take care, but the snorkeling during high tide is great right in front of the property. You will see many fish and tons of turtles - even from the lanai - every day. Of course, whales are abundant during whale season, mid-Dec through March. The ocean in front of the condo is reefy, not sandy, but 'baby' beach a long sandy beach is 2 blocks to the south. The condo is at the north end of Lahaina, with the banyan tree being about 1 mile to the south. I give you the address when you book so you can check it out completely. The resort (and my condo) is non-smoking, but there is a designated smoking area. The garage/BBQ/pool area has a handy bathroom on the ground floor level. Parking is free and spots are not assigned. You must register your car with the Resident Manager. I live in Lahaina and am available should you need my help. The Lahaina Roads Resort is in a small residential section of north Lahaina town and is still convenient to commercial areas. For example, the Cannery Mall (with Safeway, Longs Drugs, lots of shopping options, a food court, a Starbucks, etc) is about 2 blocks to the south. My favorite restaurants right now, Mala, Frida's and Honu, are also about one block away. And, Star Noodle and Old Lahaina Luau are just south of this. The Banyan tree (some view as the ‘downtown Lahaina’ area) is 1.5 miles from Lahaina Roads. You might not even use your rental car all that much once here, as there is an inexpensive West Maui bus which leaves from the Cannery to get you all over the west side. Of course, there are wonderful areas to explore all over Maui, so yes; you probably will still want a car for those kinds of adventures. The resort is over 50% owner-occupied, so this feels like a home, not a resort circus. There is free covered parking (the first floor of the condo structure is all parking area, like a parking structure, with elevator access right there). Oceanside, there is a beautiful pool, large wide deck area, two grassy areas, and propane BBQ grills. The pool area has lots of tables with shade umbrellas, picnic tables for meals, and chaise lounges for taking in the sun and relaxing. The ocean comes right up to the seawall in front of the pool. There are steps built into the seawall for ocean access so you can pop in for a dip. The ocean there is reef-y and not great for serious swimming or beach walking – it provides a great habitat for the green sea turtles though, so you can watch them all day long, feeding, popping up for a breath, floating and basking – it’s very absorbing and entertaining. Plus during the Jan-Apr whale season, it’s an amazing place from which to whale watch. Many of my guests ‘complain’ they never got off the deck to do all the fun Maui stuff due to the great whale show – better than TV! You can walk to beautiful sandy beaches in a flash, about equal distance in either direction. South takes you to Baby Beach, a popular laid back large sandy beach, about 4 blocks away. The beginning of Ka’anapali beach (Waihikuli beach) is also .9 (less than one mile) away to the north. You can walk that for miles!!! Both beaches are great for swimming and boogie boarding. Our waters are consistent all year round – beautiful and warm. Back at the resort, enjoy the view from the pool area (get the same views from your lanai (deck) too of course). It includes sailboats and other small boats bobbing out on moorings in front of you, the Mala ramp (small boats coming in and out) to the south, the beautiful island of Lanai on the west horizon, and a peek at the island of Molokai to the north. During whale season, whales play (a lot of slapping of tails, pectoral fins and chins), breech, and blow right in front of you. I love the sight of a new baby calf practicing his breeching over and over and over… Let’s not forget the sunsets - they are wonderful! Every evening the sun, clouds, ocean and islands all combine to provide a new and unique show for you to enjoy. Here is a little more detail about the beaches and the complex’s location: There are two beaches close by - the closest is known as "Baby Beach" is about 2 blocks to the south. It has a long sandy beach. It's right by the outdoor Buddha and Buddhist temple. If you have a Lahaina guidebook, this will be in it. To the north, you have the beginning of the Ka'anapali beaches. I would guess to get to Ka'anapali beach proper, it would be about 1.2 miles, but the first beach, Waihikuli, is about .9 (less than 1 mile) blocks from Lahaina Roads. Of course, Maui is full of great beaches and even if you are staying right on a beach, its well worth it to drive all over and try all the different beaches we have to offer. If you want to look at Lahaina Roads on on a map, the address is 1403 Front St., Lahaina, HI 96761. If you look at the satellite view, you can make out the swimming pool. It's the only large building in that area - right nearby is mostly private homes. The white specks on the ocean are the sailboats and motor boats moored out there in front of the building. Baby beach starts right after the Mala Pier that you can see clearly as you scroll to the south. There is a public bus that is OK for getting around on the west side, but it is not great for touring other parts of the island unless you are super patient and don't mind about 2 hours over to Wailuku, by car about 1 hour. It's scenic anyway! If you wanted to go without a rental car, you can do it - maybe just rent a car for a day or two for the longer trips. There are tours to Hana and a hiking company that picks up, and also tours for sunrise on Haleakala, so you don't need a car for that. We have limited Uber/Lyft service here. There are taxi's available if no Uber driver can be found. Shuttles and taxis to and from the airport are available. Note that parking in the garage is very tight, so care must be taken to park safely. I require a completed registraion and release of liability form for each guest, where everyone staying in the condo is listed.
