Description
Spacious and charming Dutch Colonial farmhouse on a family- owned, active dairy farm. Located in Sunderland's historic district, it has access to great dining, hiking trails on Mt. Toby, the Connecticut River, and is a short distance from Amherst and the Five College Area. This beautiful home features a recently remodeled kitchen, four large bedrooms, dining and living rooms, office, and a lovely screened-in porch with gorgeous views of Mt. Sugarloaf, farm fields and the Connecticut Riverbank. The space This vintage house offers comfort with a new heating system, a fully equipped kitchen, suitable for preparing a formal meal, and a private office for virtual work. For one hundred years it was home to three generations of farm families and except for the kitchen and bathrooms very little has been changed. It's also in a great location. Not only is it close to the colleges, but also to many great restaurants in Amherst, Northampton and even several within walking distance. For activities, walk to the Connecticut River or to Mt. Toby for a hike. Bring your bike or kayak or rent one down street. From February to April is maple sugaring season. Visit one of the several local sugar houses for a treat. We are not offering formal farm tours yet, but if you would like a short look, we can arrange it. Guest access Guests have access to all rooms except the basement and spare room upstairs. Those doors are locked. Use of the south and rear lawns is welcomed. Guests are not allowed in or around any farm buildings without guidance. Other things to note Guests should be aware that being a working farm, there will be occasional outside farm odors from the cows or sounds from cows or machinery. It's important to note though, that in all our years of farming not one neighbor has complained about either. Also, out of respect for our neighbors and our guests, we do everything we can to minimize both.
