Rainwater is collected, filtered, and supplied throughout the home. Hot water, cooking, and the oven are powered by propane. The bathroom features a Cinderella toilet system rather than a traditional septic system. This modern off-grid technology is clean, odor-free, and easy to use. Instructions are provided inside the home, and most guests become comfortable using it after their first use. Outside, relax around the fire pit and enjoy the sounds of the rainforest while overlooking the farm and Mokupāpapa Stream. Other things to note Please note that this is a working farm located in Hawaiʻi's tropical rainforest. You'll hear birds throughout the day and coqui frogs after sunset. Rain showers can arrive quickly and unexpectedly, often followed by sunshine moments later. Because we are located in a rural rainforest environment, guests may occasionally encounter geckos, mosquitoes, moths, tropical insects, cockroaches, centipedes, and other creatures that are a normal part of island life. We regularly maintain and treat the home and surrounding grounds, but nature is very much part of the experience here, especially after periods of heavy rain. Cell service may be limited depending on your carrier and where you are on the property. Guests who require reliable connectivity should plan accordingly. Property roads and pathways may become muddy during rainy weather, and the driveway is long and rural.
