NUCR#: PL-NUCR-2024-00210 STVR#: STVR-19-351259 NUC#: NUC-19-0582 The space This is Peace, Relaxation, and Tranquility at its finest! Located just minutes away from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on 1/2 acre of private forest, the Teahouse Cottage was created with an appreciation for the elegance of Japanese architecture. Designed with luxury and privacy in mind, the Teahouse Cottage features an open floor plan, luxury king bed, fully equipped kitchen, electric-ignition gas fireplace, and expansive spa bathroom with soaking tub. An outdoor steaming hot tub rejuvenates you at the end of your day after touring. Draw open the custom SHOJI entry doors and enter this airy, light-filled space. Finished with attention to detail, you will notice the TSUGI pine cabinets and trim, polished concrete floors with built-in radiant heating, and accents like the native OHIA posts, which bring nature into the space. The rainforest is all around and can be enjoyed through every window. Entering the Luxury Spa Bath, you will appreciate the stone vessel sink, natural stone tile, huge walk-in shower, and amazing soaking tub with a view of the forest. Enjoy our provided robe and slippers, spa bath towels, and green tea shampoo and conditioner amenities. Unwind with a glass of wine in front of the gas fireplace. Gaze at the stars from the outdoor FURO hot tub, surrounded by your own private bamboo rainforest. Relax with fresh-brewed coffee, NAOKI Matcha Green Tea, and Big Island Candies shortbread cookies, all of which are provided to our guests. Every detail has been considered to make this a unique and deliberate space that will be an exhilarating and rejuvenating experience you will never forget! NUCR#: PL-NUCR-2024-00210 STVR#: STVR-19-351259 NUC#: NUC-19-0582 by Guest access You will have private use of the entire space and grounds and access to laundry facilities and outdoor hot tub. We are located directly off a paved street, with a short gravel driveway that is gated for you comfort and security. Solar Landscaping lights create a nice ambience in the evening, and will guide you to your private parking next to the front entry of the home. Other things to note We are often asked about air conditioning. If you have been to other areas of Hawai`i, you will know that some areas are very warm. Volcano has quite a different climate, and it is cool here with the crisp air of mountain elevation. Anticipate rain and sun on most afternoons and cooler evening temperatures. It is very uncommon for properties in the area to have air conditioning. With ample doors and windows the air circulates beautifully. Volcano Village is one of the last areas of native rainforest in all of Hawai`i. It is an incredibly special place that we invite you to enjoy and appreciate. Being remotely located, please be prepared that there may be times of slow traffic on our two lane highway. Sometimes limbs fall on our power lines interrupting power service. We keep flashlights, extra batteries, and candles at the unit for these instances. It is not uncommon for local restaurants to be closed, so it is a good practice to check before venturing out. There are two convenience stores and gas stations located in Volcano Village. They both close early, usually at 7pm. Please be aware that Coqui frogs are Volcano residents. They make a chirping sound that is a bit like loud crickets. For light sleepers this may be a bit disruptive; there is a white noise machine in the nightstand, if needed. Volcano Village is a small, forest town on a volcano on an outlying island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Expect the unexpected and you will have a wonderful adventure in a magical place. For drinking water, we have triple filtration and UV sanitation for our eco-friendly rainwater catchment system. Our tap water is safe to drink. Being near the Volcano we are often asked about the activity and any safety concerns. The residential area near the park is considered a low risk lava zone. In the past 100,000 years there has not been a flow recorded in the area of Volcano Village. The active eruption area from the 2018 eruption was in the East Rift Zone, about a 1 hour drive from Volcano Village, near the coast in the Pahoa area. The Mauna Loa eruption of 2022 has concluded with no risk to any inhabited areas. The Kīlauea crater (specifically the Halemaʻumaʻu crater within the summit caldera) has been in an ongoing episodic eruption phase since December 23, 2024. This consists of discrete “episodes” of intense lava fountaining and flows, separated by pauses of days to weeks. As of March 10, 2026, the ongoing summit eruption has had 43 episodes. These episodes represent distinct eruptive pulses at the summit crater (primarily from north and south vents in Halemaʻumaʻu). The eruption is characterized by high lava fountains, lava flows covering parts of the crater floor, and occasional tephra/ash fallout. The frequency has varied, but episodes have occurred roughly every 1–3 weeks on average during much of 2025–2026, with some shorter or longer pauses.
