If you want to surf, just paddle straight out to the reef and surf "CYO's" or "Kawela's" breaks. 1/2 mile to grocery stores, small movie theater, brand new Pounder's Restaurant, other restaurants, and the newly renovated Polynesian Cultural Center. The Polynesian Cultural Center (Hawaii's #1 paid visitor attraction) is only 1/2 mile down the road. Local shopping includes the Laie shopping center (only 1 mile away). Laie shopping center has a grocery store, a hardware store, an automotive store, a flower shop, a laundromat, a movie theater, banks, a beauty parlor and many others. The Polynesian Cultural Center has a new marketplace with locally owned shops for souvenirs and gifts for friends and family back home. Across the street are hiking trails in lush tropical rain forests to a waterfall! Great trail running too.
