The space Some of the best compliments we have received so far is that our furniture and mattresses are some of the most comfortable that guests have experienced. We opted for the higher end mattresses and bedding in order ensure everyone who stays a comfortable nights sleep. New replacement windows also allow the sun to come streaming through with wonderful views of the Taunton River. The original hurricane shudders add a wonderful historic touch to your stay. In the winter time, the view expands so you can enjoy all the wildlife flying around. This listing comes with exclusive access to our large covered outdoor pavilion. Enjoy nights by the outdoor fireplace under our covered 16' by 24' pavilion. This space is not a shared space when you book this listing. We pride ourselves on how clean we keep the apartments. Some of the fastest ships in the world were built here at that time. A quiet walk down main street to view some of the spectacular old ship captains houses. Explore WWII Battleships less than 10 minutes away that has recently had a multi million dollar restoration. Commuter rail service via the Fall River Depotis 7 miles from the house. This MBTA train will take you all the way into Boston's South Station one way for $12.50. Many Ferry's available to Martha's Vineyard and other popular locations are also nearby. We are 30 miles to Gillette Stadium. Guest access By booking the 2 apartments together, you are essentially booking the entire 1747 build of the historic Isaac Pierce House. The common outdoor space off the parking area is exclusively yours. Four off street parking spots are available and there is plenty of free street parking available also. Coin operated washer and dryer in the basement. The side entrance off the parking area that leads to the first and second floor apartment is also an egress for the 3rd floor unit but rarely used for that purpose. The front grand staircase entrance that also connects only the first and second floor apartments is private to you for this listing. People have asked about having party's in the pavilion space. The short answer outside of the 10 person limit in no, we are not allowed. An option is to have one at the Pearce Beach picnic area. A permit is required and you may have up to 100 people. Please contact the Town of Somerset Recreation Department to inquire. Fees are $150-$300 and the beach area is also a walking distance to the house. The Village Waterfront Park also has a public picnic area that is 0.3 miles from the house. Planning a wedding? The town does rent out "The Bluffs" from time to time for that purpose. It's the large open space overlooking the river between the house and the Pierce Beach area. Contact the town for details. Other things to note Wedding parties, graduation parties, any type of larger than normal gather really needs to be communicated before your arrival in order to set expectations for all who are staying here. Hashing out details and communicating the number of guests and cars and how the property is going to be used is extremely important especially if the stay is outside of the normal type booking. This is an old house, and sound will travel so quiets hours should be observed unless prior arrangements have been made. Communication cuts down on surprises for all involved. We encourage guests is use the side entrance off the parking area as the main in/out flow of the building. The beautiful front grand staircase is better suited for photos and fire egress emergency exit. The railing in the front hallway is very old and works as it should, but it's not the staircase to use as a primary entrance to the second floor and at no time should suitcases or bags be brought up to the second floor using that staircase. Also, the house is old. Stairs to the second floor are steep and winding and are not for everyone. However, the first floor is only 3 short steps of the parking area and the first floor bathroom has mobility grab bars.
