The space A Different Kind of Stay The property hosts a small, boutique collection of cottages for like-minded travelers who appreciate the peaceful jungle setting. While your cottage is completely yours and a self-contained space, you may occasionally see other guests walking around the grounds or using nearby shared spaces. Your handcrafted bamboo cottage was designed to blend naturally with the surrounding rainforest. It features traditional tropical design with screened windows for natural ventilation and airflow from the trade winds. The open design blends indoor and outdoor living, allowing the sights, sounds, and scents of the rainforest to flow through the space. Inside you'll find: • One king bed (accommodates up to 2 guests) • Private bathroom • Private entrance • Kitchenette for simple meal preparation Many guests say their favorite part of staying here is falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle and waking to birdsong and soft morning light filtering through the trees. Guest access Guests have full private-access to their cottage during their stay. In addition to your cottage, guests are welcome to enjoy several shared areas on the property: • A large communal kitchen with indoor dining space • A shared yoga and movement space • Outdoor areas around the property for relaxing and enjoying the rainforest setting Many guests appreciate the respectful, peaceful atmosphere that naturally develops when nature-loving travelers share this beautiful setting while maintaining their own personal cottage retreat space. From time to time we host casual gatherings such as potluck dinners, movie nights, or game nights. Guests are always welcome to join, though participation is completely optional. Other things to note Authentic Jungle Environment: This cottage is located in a lush tropical rainforest. Natural sounds include birds, insects, wind in the trees, and rainfall. Because we live close to nature, you may occasionally see geckos, insects, or other small wildlife. This is a normal part of the rainforest environment in Hawaii and part of what makes the experience special. Shared Property: While your cottage is completely yours, the property includes several nearby cottages and shared spaces. Guests may occasionally see others walking around the grounds, and may choose to interact with each other in the shared kitchen and/or yoga studio. Remote Location: The area is very dark after sunset, which makes for incredible stargazing. Guests may wish to bring a flashlight when walking around the property at night. The closest town is Pahoa (25min drive). There is very limited cell service on the entire Red Road. Wildlife: You may see native birds and other animals in the surrounding area. Wild pigs occasionally pass through the forest nearby, so please enjoy wildlife from a distance. Geckos and insects are a normal part of life in the rainforest. Nearby Attractions: The cottage is about a 5-minute drive to Kehena Black Sand Beach (clothing optional) and located along the scenic Red Road coastline.
