Escape to our enchanting & historic 1,100 sq. ft. creekside cottage in the Helena National Forest. Steps from the creek for a cold plunge, our two-bedroom, one-bath retreat blends rustic charm & modern comfort. Relax in the wood-fired cedar hot tub, cozy up by the gas fireplace or wood stove, and unplug with books, vinyl records & board games. Explore nature with private trail access, then stay connected with Starlink WiFi. A perfect sanctuary for solitude, adventure & stargazing! The space We are honored to share our little historic haven with you! Just steps away from Trout creek lies our Cozy Cottage. Our property was home to the Casey Lumber Mill and we are excited to be bringing back the remaining structures to life. We currently have the cottage available, which rumor has it was the old Cooks Cottage, and we are still working on the old bunkhouse across the creek. With stunning creek & mountain views from the Cottage sunroom, dining area, kitchen and den you’ll see some of the local wildlife while enjoying all the comforts we provide. You’ll have your own spaces to enjoy as well. The front porch is perfect for stargazing, or birdwatching. Then, outside the den and along the back side of the house you’ll find the babbling creek. Complete with beach assess to sit and relax with your beverage of choice, or take the chilly plunge! Our waters are clear and cool year round. We have provided a wood-fire cook-over grill, picnic table & seating for 4. Catch some trout and enjoy cooking your fresh catch over an open flame in the fire pit. Our hot tub is located so there’s privacy, but is still accessible between the houses and stargazer tent. Feel free to make reservations for a private plunge. Otherwise it’s open-weather depending- and ready for all guests. It does comfortably seat six. Some of the extras we have to offer: entertainment with the record player and small record collection, our dvd collection, and access via the dvd/blueray player to our Netflix Guest account as well as our Vudu account with movies. Feel free to log into your YouTube as well. We also have provided: Popcorn Maker with popcorn (bring butter, or oil & your favorite toppings…) Air Fryer/toaster with fry basket & other accessories in island bottom drawer Stainless steel Coffee Percolator (guests have said it makes the BEST coffee ever & we agree!) We provide fresh ground coffee and sugar bring your cream of choice. Electric Water Kettle with some teas provided. Crockpots- multiple in the chicken hutch Fondue Set- in chicken hutch Picnic Basket for four-Turkish towels in King bedroom hutch are great picnic blankets or Hot-tub coverings. Pressure cooker-in chicken hutch Waffle maker-a family treasure which makes heart-shaped waffles Wood-fired Cook-Over Fire Pit: great for cooking or relaxing after a day of exploring! with utensils & wood on site, Bring charcoal if you prefer using it. Clothing steamer: located in cabinet above dryer with distilled water for use during wedding season Campfire sandwich iron: hanging in den above fireplace And more I have a few other items stored in our garage If you’d like to use these items just ask! We are not always at the property and cannot guarantee on demand access without advance reservation. For the hot tub, please let us know if you intend to use it during your stay. We will have the first fire setup ready to go. It takes quite a bit of time to heat so the sooner we know, the better. There are a couple cotton Turkish towels in the master bedroom wardrobe, as well as beach towels in the bathroom. Other spare towels above the dryer that can be used outside. We are currently working on setting up our Ceramic Studio where we will offer private classes, experiences and let people see our process. Guest access Guests will have private access to the Cottage, its porch, and the yard surrounding it, including the beach area off the back doors. In the beach area, you’ll have a picnic table with benches. The fire pit with cooking grates is in the lit glade off the front of the Cottage, along with some yard games. Shared area includes the hot tub, and the large meadow around it. If you’d like to have privacy in the hot tub just let us know, it is no problem whatsoever! If there are other guests we limit reserved times to make the hot tub accessible for all. Thank you for understanding. Other things to note We live in the house with the porch just across the bridge with our rescue kitty, Shadow. You may also see our son around, he’s currently stationed in Texas, and usually makes a summertime and wintertime appearance.
