The space ABOUT US: My name is Maisie. My husband and I would like to welcome you to Carrageenan (Irish moss) Cottage. The name pays homage to our Irish ☘️ roots, and to the origin of harvesting Irish moss - which began on Museum Beach (steps down the road) - in 1847 by Daniel Ward. LOCAL AREA: A 12 minute charming stroll through the Scituate Historical District will bring you into the heart of Scituate Harbor! An array of restaurants - including sub shops, cozy pubs, coffee shops, and high end restaurants - offer dining options for every palate. The shopping is fabulous! There are many unique shops that offer souvenirs for every price range. There is also a rich maritime presence in Scituate. Fishing boat charters are at the ready! THE HOUSE: The house is conveniently equipped with a pack n play, booster seat, and umbrella stroller - for those traveling with little ones. No need to lug your own! We also provide beach chairs, chair umbrellas, beach towels, all linens, shampoo, conditioner, soap (laundry, dish and shower). We also provide one pouch of coffee and creamers - to get you started. 1ST FLOOR: The galley kitchen has a reverse osmosis water filtration system - which provides clean drinking water; laundry; half bathroom; open living room/dining room area; small bedroom; sunroom. Outside the kitchen is a covered back porch. Perfect for morning coffee! The living room/dining room area is great for family gatherings. Board games and a deck of cards make for a cozy game night! Off of the living room is an airy, breezy sunroom, containing a trundle bed that sleeps two people. The small first-floor bedroom has a room darkening curtain - in lieu of a door - due to its unique setup. This is the perfect room for an older family member that does not want to walk upstairs. 2ND FLOOR: A primary suite; full bathroom; kids room. The primary suite contains a king bed, dresser and window seat. The hallway closet has ample room to hang clothes and contains extra blankets for chilly nights. The kids room has a queen bed and a bunk bed - it sleeps 4 comfortably! It also has a pack ‘n play! All bedrooms have room darkening curtains. The full bathroom has a tub shower. BEACH INFORMATION: 5 minute WALK to Museum Beach. There is no parking available at this beach; our cottage is in a very accessible location! 8 minute WALK to Sand Hills Beach. RESIDENT Beach sticker required to park. Walking is key! Off season parking is available. 5 minute DRIVE to Peggotty Beach. No parking available. RESIDENT Beach sticker required to park. Off season parking is available. Guest access Guests will receive a code - shortly before arrival - for both the front and back doors. Other things to note Designated workspace is provided in the sunroom; containing a desk, chair and lamp.
