Tom's Retreat

Tom's Retreat is the perfect place for a relaxing staycation/vacation for couples/ groups of 7. It features no-step, handicap assess ability with an abundance of desirable amenities. Located just 10-20 minutes (just off Hwy 5/65) from virtually "everywhere" you might want to visit, you may find yourself staying put in the beautiful park-like setting, enjoying the covered patio & grill, retreating to a game of chess, or feasting on a home cooked meal in the fully stocked gourmet kitchen instead. The space There are three bedrooms. Bedroom one and two have a wall that adjoins the family room and kitchen that does not go all the way to the ceiling. People in the bedroom will hear what is going on in the rest of the property and visa-versa. Bedroom three has French doors that can be closed for more privacy. Bedroom One: Full bath with walk-in tub and closet, dresser, queen bed, partial wall - 8 feet. Ceiling is 12 feet. Bedroom Two: Queen bed, dresser, and walk=in closet. Partial wall to 8'. Ceiling is 12'-0". Bedroom Three: Full size bed with twin trundle pull-out. Amour for hanging cloths with drawers. Other Rooms: Combo family room that includes eat in kitchen. Plenty of space to sit all seven. Family room that includes power lift chair, board games, satellite TV, access to porch. Large covered porch. The bathrooms can be accessed by wheelchair but are not ADA in nature. There is not room in the bathrooms to turn a wheelchair around. Guest access The listing includes the house and the covered porch. Other things to note This is a rural property that is on a gravel road of up to 1.2 miles. One route has just .2 mile of gravel but is more to navigate. There is a working apiary on site. There is also a pond and chickens. The home sits 1/8 mile south of a highway so there is road noise during rush hour if you are outside. A farm field to the South. The house is on well water and septic so water conservation is appreciated. The property is in rural Iowa next to a green space and farm field. We may have coons, opossums, coyote, fox, bobcat, wild turkey, deer, dogs, cats, rabbits, squinty (ground squirrel), owls, birds and MICE venturing around, especially at night. We do everything we can to prevent mice from being in the house. As much as we would like the furry little mice not to find access, occasional they find it, generally through an open door. We will have traps strategically set that allow us to relocate it. Please call us if you find a mouse in a trap. We ask that you do not hunt or fish on the property. There is a weekly cleaning fee of 110$ for extended stays beyond 7 days, and all guests are required to be identified with name and age for security.
