Guest access GENERAL TRAVEL AND LOCATION INFORMATION Molokai is straightforward to get to via Mokulele Airlines from Honolulu or other neighboring islands such as Maui. You can check online for daily commuter flights. We suggest reserving a rental car through Alamo Rent-A-Car for pick-up at the Molokai Airport. You can also look up "Dana Kish Molokai" or "Mobettah car rental" online for discounted rates. When you land in Molokai, the cottage is 20 miles west of the major grocery stores on the island. The airport is halfway to town, so after picking up your rental car at the airport, it is a good idea to make your first grocery run into town upon arrival. The stores are closed if you arrive after 7 pm or on a Sunday. Come prepared! Our family sometimes brings frozen Costco favorites for staples to get us started. A small store near the pool carries milk, bread, eggs, etc. The Kepuhi Beach Resort is 12 miles west of the Molokai Airport, located in the island's center. The once-vibrant, now vacant Sheraton Hotel and overgrown 18-hole golf course surround the oceanfront resort, creating a quiet and peaceful location that is not overrun with tourists. Keep in mind the resort area is natural, rustic, and eco-friendly, so if you do not prefer exploring the outdoors—beautiful beaches, blue water, and walking trails adjacent to the ocean—or mind occasional bugs and geckos, then Molokai may not be the place for you. Papohaku Beach, one of the longest beaches in Hawaii, is just a short stroll south of the cottage and provides long sandy walks in front of beautiful estates along the ocean's edge. Kepuhi Beach is located on both sides of the old hotel and is great for surfing and boogie boarding in the winter months, and ideal for swimming and snorkeling come spring and summer. The Make Horse beaches are just to the north, with many tide pools and private sandy beaches. Seven miles southwest is the small town of Maunaloa, with its colorful kite store and post office. The largest town on Molokai is Kaunakakai, 20 miles to the east. Most grocery stores, art/gift shops, mini markets, restaurants, and scuba/snorkel equipment rentals are in Kaunakakai. Kaunakakai is also home to the Molokai Hotel and Paddler's Restaurant and Bar, where local musicians often entertain. Renting a car is recommended. For discounted rentals, try calling Dana Kish by searching online using the following: Dana Kish Molokai. That will take you to the three auto rental links and numbers for the following: Alamo, Mo Betta Auto Rentals, and Dana Kish. Molokai is a friendly escape where you can completely unplug and enjoy the company of nice people and a natural paradise with family and friends, away from crowds. ________________________________ Helpful Tips Grills The Grills are new as of January 2022! Lighting Instructions for the Grills are as follows: Turn on Gas Timer in Back of the Grills (20-40-60) Minutes Open the Lid and Leave Open Whichever Burner you want to ignite, depress and turn the knob counter-clockwise, and it will ignite the burner when it hits the "High" position. If the Burner does not ignite, try again immediately. If after three attempts, turn the knob off and let the built-up gas clear for 5 minutes, then try again. Please use grills safely; improper use of grills releases Kepuhi Beach Resort and any KBR employees from any responsibility for injury or damage. The Pool Kepuhi Beach Resort is fortunate to have an Oceanside Pool, as the county would not permit such a location if someone tried to build it now. So that's what makes ours so unique and special. The Pool and the Pool Furniture are available for Kepuhi Beach Owners and their Guests. Because of its excellent location and the Surfer Beach, we get a lot of extra people coming to our pool. For that reason, we have a Pool Employee who works on the weekends; they will ask for your Name and Condo number where you are staying. Kepuhi Beach Resort is a Non-SMOKING Complex: The only place you can smoke is at the smoking tables. Please be a responsible smoker and clean up after yourself. Getting Here and Car Rentals: Flights: Mokulele Airlines - a Southern Airways Company - is the one airline that services our Island. Flights come through the Islands of Oahu or Maui.
