Once in a Lifetime
Description
Maʻukele Lodge is an owner-occupied, off-the-beaten-path bed and breakfast nestled on the slopes of Kīlauea — where lush tropical forest, black lava, and the vast Pacific meet in breathtaking contrast. Our structure is over 60 years old and has weathered lava flows, earthquakes, and tropical storms. The lodge sits near a stunning stretch of protected land with dramatic lava rock, black sand, and crashing turquoise waves. A deep sense of place and aloha is rooted in Hawaiian values The space About the Rooms: 🌺 Hawaiian Suite A spacious 518 sq ft room with 2 queen beds and a California king. Private indoor bathroom, plus an outdoor clawfoot tub and shower in a lush garden setting. Includes a fridge, microwave, coffee press, flat screen TV, and a large welcome fruit basket. 🌋 Lava Room A cozy 177 sq ft room with a California king bed, private tiled bathroom, and partial lava/ocean view from the second floor. Air conditioning, flat screen TV, small fridge, and a welcome fruit basket. A short hallway leads to the shared living space and breakfast lanai. Our cats stay out of guest rooms, but they are part of the family. Please Note: This is a wild, immersive, and soulful retreat — not a sanitized resort experience. We are located down a dirt road, and the lodge wears its age and history openly. It is beautiful, but raw. If stepping outside your comfort zone is part of the adventure, this will likely be a stay you’ll never forget. Other things to note I have a 2 day minimum
