Built in 1854, this building is on the National Registry of Historic Places and takes you back to the late 1800s but with modern amenities. Located just across the street from Big Bouys Marina, Kwik Star and a block from the Sadie’s Sweet Ice Cream shop! You don’t want to miss enjoying all of the history and the beauty of this vintage gem! The space American House 1854 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many famous people have stayed here including former President Jimmy Carter and the legendary Mark Twain when he was conducting a speech in the town. Guest access Guests have access to the entire 1st floor including the lobby area which was the former ticketing office for the railroad and the former saloon room. Guests should not venture upstairs as that leads to other suites within the building. Other things to note Transient boat slip is available for $25/night. Just message Sara when booking. Please note: This is a train town and the American House is located across the street from both the Mississippi River and the train tracks. Train noise should be expected. We do provide complimentary ear plugs for your convenience.
