Tree House with Norwegian Roots near Commuter Rail
Sunny “Tree House” near Commuter Rail to Boston, Crane Beach, Town Wharf
Description
As Norwegians would say, this Tree House (c. 1870) is made of “honest wood.” Its Scandinavian influence comes naturally, as the home where my two daughters grew up—both Norwegian and American citizens. The blend of old and new features stands out in the newly renovated kitchen/dining/work areas, where floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside inside. Golden pine floors throughout. Great setup for remote work. Close to commuter rail to Boston. Easy access to the spectacular Crane Beach. The space This house incorporates warmth and light, practicality and comfort, with thoughtful use of space and material—glass, wood, and textile. Guests have private access to three floors, including an open kitchen/dining/work area as well as a living room on the first floor; two bedrooms and full bath on the second floor; and a “penthouse” on the third floor—one semi-divided room that can function as both bedroom and office—with views from the treetops overlooking historic Ipswich. The kitchen is very well-equipped with cookware, tableware, appliances, towels, etc.. There are plenty of bed linens, blankets, quilts, and pillows, as well as bath and beach towels, and cleaning supplies. The utility room in the basement has a large-capacity washer and dryer and a chest freezer. All utilities, including heat, AC, electricity, and water, are included, as are 5G Wifi, access to Netflix, Prime Video, PBS Passport, and Apple+, excluding rentals and purchases. An amplified HD digital TV antenna provides access to additional channels from the smart TV in the living room. Guests are welcome to use the patio and outdoor furniture (long table with vented market umbrella; benches; side tables; and comfortable chairs….PYO herbs in season). Safety devices include smart smoke and carbon monoxide detectors (six interconnected devices on all floors) as well as smart thermostats—one per floor/zone. The owner, who travels frequently, maintains a private studio at ground/driveway level and respects total privacy of guests. Guest access Guests have private access to the entire house, inside and outside, apart from a studio with separate entrances at driveway/patio level. The owner respects total privacy of guests and is always available to respond and facilitate, whether on site or traveling. Other things to note Long-term stays are welcome and encouraged. Short term rental tax does not apply for stays of 32 days or more.
