Luxury, off grid, coastal cottage is located in the lush jungle of the East side on the Big Island of Hawaii. Quiet and private it is surrounded by wildlife. Hear the ocean waves. This custom-built, artistic home displays masterful woodwork and has beautiful jungle, garden, and ocean views. Located near the ocean (no beach) and very private, this cottage is completely off-grid, on solar power and deep well water. Reliable Starlink provides fast WiFi for streaming or working. Downstairs is Outfitted with an efficient kitchen two burner gas cooktop with cooking essentials, small refrigerator (no freezer) queen size pull out sofa, washing machine and custom coral walk in shower. Leading up the artistic local wood stairs you will find a comfortable king size bed awaiting your arrival. Closet and half bath are also found up the stairs. Private second story lanai with sliding glass door leads to a serene hammock with coastal jungle views. Hear the ocean crashing, star gaze at night, quiet your mind to the serene jungle nighttime coqui frogs Or enjoy the beauty that abounds. If you’re feeling adventurous this property is within hiking distance 0.7 mi rugged hidden snorkeling (tidal pools) and ocean cliffside views. *This is the East Side there are no sandy swimmable beaches. (Closest “beaches” are Hilo.) *45 minutes from Hilo airport. *Kona airport: 1.5-2 hours. *60 minutes to Hawaii Volcano National Park. *Pahoa town is very close by. With its eclectic feel; Pahoa offers all conveniences from groceries to gas and everything in between. If you’re traveling with a child/children please make that known upon your booking here on Airbnb. -Every occupant must be accounted for. -As noted and I stress : this is a tropical rainforest, bugs, geckos, native anoles (small lizard) can & will find their way in the home. If you’re disturbed by this, this type of booking may not be for you. -Please note there are NO delivery services available in this area. -The home is in a rural area! No “nightlife nearby” although natural wildlife abounds. -All types of rental vehicles can make it. (We are not that rugged!) -*This is the Easy Side, the rainy side. Warm moisture does make for abundant microbiological growth. Keep this in mind when booking if you have sensitivities. -I stress as a host to our lovely off grid home that Hikina Shore is completely OFF GRID! :Meaning no high powered appliances: hair dryers & tools, CPap machines, fans, clothing dryers, high powered charging devices are all prohibited🚫 *If you have questions please contact me. Although, with no expense spared on luxury off grid living -be mindful that Electricity comes from solar. Please keep this in mind when consuming power during nighttime hours or prolonged cloudy weather. Hair dryers, blenders, coffee maker, corded CPAP machines and similar high powered “tools” of the such are prohibited. Drinkable Water is filtered, fresh and crisp from a deep Hawaiian well and naturally replenished. Please make yourself at home on this gracious property, fruit trees abound and guests are welcome to pick. *As a host, our family lives on this amazing property. Hikina Shore is tucked away in its own coastal jungle niche of acreage and very private. Although, if anything arises during your stay I am happy to assist. Please note: This true jungle living in Hawaii; you will hear coqui frogs at night. We treat for insects but…hey this is the tropics in a rainforest these critters will always find a way, there could be geckos in the home. *We do have a horse on the property, you may hear an occasional whinny & wild roosters, we do have chickens and cats on the property. While we do love animals, please note: *If bringing a service dog, please keep the animal leashed & clean up accordingly while on our property. *During prolonged cloudy weather host may need to run a generator for several hours to charge the solar batteries.
