The Bayou Yellow House is located in Maurepas, Louisiana ~60 minutes from New Orleans.The home is located on the Chinquapin bayou, near the diversion canal, where you can relax on the extended long back deck, watch local wildlife, fish, sun bath, and enjoy a dip in the pool.The property has a unique setup where 2 interconnected houses are linked by an entranceway. This arrangement provides ample space for everyone. Guest must sign house rules before booking. Guest must have +Reviews to book. The space The house has been updated. New pictures arriving soon!! Updates include, paint, removal of wallpaper, new lights, New faucets, along with several other items. All rooms still have the bed and furniture in the same arrangement. The main feature is the large deck. Watching local wildlife, fishing, take a dip in the pool and just catching some rays lounging on the deck. Fishing poles are provided along with pool towels. Ice chest/coolers are not allowed in the house. The coolers damage the wood floors. Please keep ice coolers on the back porch or deck. Inside the house on Side B there is a sunroom that overlooks the bayou. Side A offers a patio deck with an outdoor dining table and rocking chairs. Both locations offer a great place to have breakfast and enjoy bird watching. There are bird watching opportunities at night too. The owls are pretty active in this area. There are several local restaurants and list of activates in the guide. There are also several restaurants located on the river that are also accessible by boat. More information is located in the house rules and local guide found in the additional photos in the listing. Amenities on the deck include an endless pool (no heating options), outdoor half restroom, sink and food prepping area, and a full size outdoor refrigerator available to all guest. Pool: The pool is an added bonus for our guests, provided at NO EXTRA CHARGE. The nightly rate EXCLUDES the cost of pool maintenance and upkeep. While the pool features water-circulating jets that require constant maintenance, we cannot guarantee its operation during your stay. Although the pool is usually functional, repairs can take several days due to our remote location. Therefore, we do not charge guests for the pool. If your stay depends on pool access, you might want to consider alternative accommodations. *The pool does not have heating capabilities. Grill: A gas grill is available for guest use. Please note that this is not a guaranteed amenity and is not listed on our Airbnb site as an amenity. During our time hosting, the grill has been damaged multiple times, making it challenging to ensure its availability. There are 2 propane gas tanks provided, but we do not check the propane levels between guests. Guests are responsible for refilling the propane if needed. If the grill's battery-operated igniter does not work, please use the hand lighter located in the kitchen. Storms and weather conditions can sometimes affect the batteries. Fishing: There is great fishing located on the deck. Several Christmas trees (recycled trees after the season) have been submerged under and around the deck to attract fish. Hopefully you will have a great fishing day. Fishing poles are available on the property. The house has two floating jet ski docks. Please let us know if you wish to use these. If you want to bring your boat there is a launching site at the entrance of the street. Boat and trailer parking are also available at the launching site. However the Yellow House has room to park your boat and trailer in the parking lot located in front of the home. Cleaning fee: The entire cleaning fee goes directly to a small local cleaning business. The cleaning fee includes the inside of the house along with all outdoor spaces and all outdoor amenities. The outdoor space is quite large (also includes the outdoor restroom). We try our best to keep the cleaning fee reasonable. Once you are on the property and see how much space is available you may have a better understand the cleaning fee. Thank you for assisting us in supporting local businesses. *All house instructions, guides, and rules are available online. Printed copies are not provided inside the house. Boat Owners special note: The house is located in a wake zone. Traveling boats on the bayou do not have to slow down. Therefore parking your boat in the bayou will damage your boat and our property. There is a boat lift located on the property which is not available for guest due to a variety of reasons. Boat activity on the bayou is not available for the yellow house. This includes tying boats on the deck or dock. If guest do not follow the rules and damages occur to any part of the deck, but not limited to, the top or underneath the deck, any structural damage, or any part of the property you will be held responsible for all damages regardless of fault. The Yellow house operates under the Strict liability rule. This means that you will be held responsible for any damages regardless of whether or not you were negligent. Information about boat launching areas is located in the additional photos section under the house rules and local guide found. Guest access The property has a unique setup where 2 interconnected houses are linked by an entranceway. This arrangement provides ample space for everyone. Guest have access to several large decks outside, outside restroom, pool (not heated), and outside kitchen area. Boaters: see backyard pics for information. Wakes are allowed on the canal. Therefore parking boats on the dock is not allowed. This rule is to protect your boat and the deck. House Coffee Maker- Keurig Other things to note Please see the house rules and local guide in the photo section under additional photos. It is your responsibility to understand and know all the rules. Strict no parties, no unregistered guest, all guest (all persons entering the house) have to be registered, no drugs, no smoking or vaping inside the house rules. Violation of these and any rules will result in immediate eviction (no matter the hour) and there will be no refund. *All house instructions, guides, and rules are available online. Printed copies are not provided inside the house. Owner lives on the same street. Outside Perimeter video monitoring. No Smoking or vaping inside the house. Violating these rules will result in extra cleaning fee. For your safety, the elevator and fireplace are non-operational. No exceptions. The coffee Maker is a Keurig. Frying food (except normal use with a pan) is prohibited both inside and outside the house. Do not bring fryers, grills, or any other cooking devices onto the premises. Use only the appliances provided on the property. Candles are strictly forbidden due to fire hazards. Candles, fireworks, fire pits, or any type of open flame are not allowed. Do not bring them to the property. If you are caught using these items you will be asked to leave the property immediately. **The cleaning fee covers 4 hours of cleaning. If the property requires additional cleaning, you will be charged for any extra cleaning time or fees. Typically, the house takes 3 hours to clean. Additional cleaning fees for guests are generally uncommon. However, a few guests in the past have left the place in an unacceptable condition. If this happens, the extra cleaning fee will apply. This fee is determined by the cleaning company, and as hosts and co-hosts, we have no control over these additional charges. This is a large property, both indoors and outdoors. We employ a local cleaning company, operated by a husband and wife team. They are responsible for cleaning the interior of the home as well as the exterior areas, which include multiple large decks, outdoor furniture, an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor refrigerator, an outdoor bathroom, and several other outdoor spaces. There is a lot to clean. The Airbnb host and co-host do not receive any portion of the cleaning fee; the entire fee goes directly to the local cleaning company. *For safety and hygiene purposes, we do not reuse any sheets or towels that have been soiled with bodily fluids (excluding sweat). If sheets contain any bodily fluids, a replacement fee of $25 per sheet and $10 per pillow case will be charged. The replacement fee for each towel is $15 each. *If any bodily fluids are found in the pool, you will be charged $175.00 for the cost of draining, cleaning, and disinfecting the pool. We do not reuse the water; instead, we completely drain the pool and disinfect all surfaces. *Each Mattress has a Premium mattress encasement (all sides of the mattress are protected). This assist in protecting against fluids, bed bugs, dust mites, and bacteria. *The property has a lot of stairs and multiple types of terrain. Please consider this if you or your guest have any health or mobility concerns.
