The Sherman, Historic Home - 9 bedrooms, sleeps 18

Welcome to The Sherman! Be a part of history and make yourself at home! Our home was built in 1888 by the great grandson of Roger Sherman who was one of America's founding fathers, drafting the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. While the period charm has been graciously preserved, modern convenience has been integrated to create a peaceful stay for our guests. Our grounds offer extensive perennial gardens and overlooks a rambling brook. Enjoy your stay! The space The Sherman Guest Home includes 9 bedrooms and can sleep up to 18: The 1st floor includes a modern kitchen, a breakfast room, a formal dining room, a large living room with two fireplaces and a grand piano, and a full bathroom. 2nd Floor Rooms The Milne Farley Room - 1 full bed The Sherman Room - 1 king bed The Hawthorne Room - 1 queen bed The Thoreau Room - 1 full bed, 1 twin daybed The Fuller Room - 1 full bad 3rd Floor Rooms The Harvard Room - 1 full bed The Aunt Lizzie Room - 1 full bed The Emerson Room - 1 full bed The Peabody Room - 3 twin beds We include one parking spot with each booked room (9 total available). We offer check-in between 3pm and 8pm. You must let us know at least 24hrs in advance when to expect, so we can arrange to meet you at the house. Thanks! Check-Out is by 11am. The Sherman is an excellent location for group retreats, family get-togethers, reunions, and wedding guests. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy our large living room, kitchen, breakfast room, formal dining room, and parlor on the first floor. Our home is located on an acre of land and overlooks a peaceful brook at the back of the property. We also offer a grill and fire pit on the premises. Feel free to enjoy our gardens and our wrap-around porch. Guests are not permitted in the basement. Other things to note Our historic home has been operating as a guest home for the past 80 years, welcoming guests from all corners of the world. We celebrate the history of this legacy and ask for you to treat our home with respect. You must let us know if you are planning on inviting people over to the house for a gathering. No matter the size, such gatherings are only permitted with written pre-approval by The Sherman. Please reach out to us for more info. To speed up the check-in process, we may ask you for the names of your guests to add to the House Manual, which must be signed by the lead guest at check-in. As stated, our home comfortably sleeps 18. Any guests over this number must be approved, in writing, by us and may be subject to an additional fee.
