The Milne Farley Room offers a full bed with a secretary desk and closet. It is located on the second floor and overlooks the front of our property. The room is named for Ralph Milne Farley, which was the nom de plume of one of our earlier owners, Roger Sherman Hoar. He was a Massachusetts state senator and assistant attorney general, but also a pulp fiction writer of early 20th century sci-fi. The space Welcome to The Sherman Guest Home! Be a part of history and make yourself at home! Our house was built in 1888 by Sherman Hoar, the great grandson of Roger Sherman, who was one of America's founding fathers, drafting the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. While the period charm has been graciously preserved, modern convenience has been integrated to create a peaceful stay for our guests. Our grounds offer extensive perennial gardens and overlooks a rambling brook. Enjoy your stay! The Sherman has its own mini-fridge. We include one parking spot with reach room booking. Check-In: 3pm-10pm Check-Out: By 11am Our rooms are available for booking individually or all together (9 rooms, sleeps up to 18!). If you are interested in booking multiple rooms please reach out and we can let you know which rooms are available next to each other. The Sherman Guest Home is an excellent location for group retreats, family get-togethers, reunions, and wedding guests. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy our large living room and parlor on the first floor as well as the grounds. Our home is located on an acre of land and overlooks a peaceful brook at the back of the property. Feel free to enjoy the view of our gardens from the wrap-around porch. Other things to note The Sherman Guest Home has been operating as a guest home for the past 70 years. We celebrate the history of this legacy and ask for you to treat our home with respect. If you are planning on hosting an event, you must rent out the entire house. Additional event fees may be added, depending on the event and its requirements. Please reach out to us for more info.
