Cape Cod Family & Friend House

Central in "Narrow Land " on Eastham/Wellfleet line minutes from both Cape Cod Bay & Cape Cod National Seashore beaches, hiking trails & Cape Cod National Seashore amenities. Professionally cleaned .This house is perfect for family groups sharing vacation space or a multigenerational family getaway. The neighborhood backs up to the Cape Cod Rail Trail 100 mile marker with easy access on or off the path not entering traffic. Chequessett Neck Golf Club or Truro Highland Links just up the road. The space This home provides several indoor and outdoor gathering spaces well suited for multi-generation groups ,mixed family groups or several couples. The high speed wireless network has download speed suitable to run over 24 devices. This facilitates work from home inside on either floor or allows you to enjoy video conferencing and streaming from the outside decks, as you choose. During the busy summer season, the house is set up to empty the car from a day at the beach, hang towels on the line and "desalinate the gang " easily in the lovely hot outdoor rain showers while someone pours drinks and makes dinner "apres beach". Two full bathrooms with bath tubs are for the less adventurous. The outdoor showers are a treat and "thing" to Cape Codders and remain on until the first frost is threatening! Bedrooms are set up with air conditioning in the summer , self controlled heat for winter, with mirrors , towel hooks, closets and hampers. The upstairs bunk room has a Smart Roku TV with a game playing area or work from home desk space. The downstairs living room is suited to relaxing on a loveseat or sofa and also has a ROKU Smart TV. The dining room can be made to seat up to 10. Table leaves are stored in the basement. The exterior deck has two large teak tables for family gathering and post beach BBQ's under the string of outdoor lights. The front porch has chairs for early morning coffee or evening cocktails and stargazing conversations. The front yard has a fire pit under the oak tree leaf canopy for private smores or late night music relaxation without worry of disturbing neighbors. The host family loves to cook and entertain. You will find the kitchen well stocked with basic spices and lovely cooking/ serving supplies for group entertaining. The 5 burner gas convection oven is built in the granite island facing the dining room so the "cooks " can be a part of the gathering and not miss the fun . Both the back and front yard is open for lawn games. Wood for fire pit is purchased from several sites nearby. We have a regulation horseshoe pit for bocce or horseshoe toss games. Layout: First floor has queen bed room. Full size bath with tub and shower is on the first first floor . Laundry supplies and full size washer dryer are in the basement . There is also a second fridge in basement to store the weeks supplies and drinks. Second floor has front facing South west exposure large bedroom with a queen bed and a twin bed. Second floor smaller back bedroom has a queen sized bed and is east facing with dappled light due to trees. Full size upstairs bath is in the hall with a tub and shower . The bunk room has flexible bedding options to suit different traveler group needs: Twin two level wooden bunk bed set , one twin sleigh bed with a slide/pull out twin low level mattress this can be pulled away and out and tucked back in for the days activities, an extra long twin bed and a pop up twin trundle that can be made up as two twins or a king . This room is flexible and offers the option for game space or work from home by day and sleeping space at night. The bunk room has a game coffee table , chairs and streaming tv . The bunk room has an exit door that opens off to the back yard for safety, however not to be used for egress or access unless you have rented both houses. We ask that the bunk room outside deck light be kept off that this entrance/ exit be used only for for emergency use. Please turn the bunk room lights off when not in use so the ambient light does not intrude next door . The home has a detached two car garage apartment that is used by my family or occasionally rented to another guest on Airbnb. The "Cape Cod Tree House "on airbnb sleeps up to 4 and has its own living space, parking area, outdoor shower, laundry room, deck and grill. The home is well set up for two separate groups . The bocce, horseshoe pit and beach supplies and large trash bins outside are shared. The Airbnb community is about shared experiences ! I do tell guests well in advance if I plan to be in residence. I will also alert you by text if I am on sight to refresh supplies or to drop off equipment. Your groups privacy and vacation experience are my full time endeavor. You and your family are welcomed in advance ! Guest access The house is stocked with service for 8 .A full size refrigerator both in kitchen and basement with a pantry cupboard off dining room for guests to store their purchased supplies for the weeks meal prep and snacks. Best to buy ice for coolers . The fridge icemaker is great for normal dinner drinks but may not keep your summer consumption cooling need pace! The unit has a stainless gas propane grill and a charcoal weber kettle if you prefer. We have beach towels , assorted beach chairs, guest towels, sheets ,pillows comforters and blankets. Washer dryer dishwasher, and a clothes line outside to hang wet beach towels. Most outer cape rentals are bring your own or rent linens towels and bedding. Our policy is that guests can bring their own bedding and towels or opt to rent them from many suppliers if they choose not to wash dry and fold the sheets and towels prior to the 11 am departure. Other things to note This home is in the prime "Narrowland" section of the Cape Cod Arm... The house is in the middle with less than a mile and a half drive from the Atlantic or Cape Cod Bay Beach options. Watching the Sunrise from the Atlantic and Sunsets that dip into the Cape Cod Bay are ritual activities. Day hike options are easy from Fort Hill Eastham , Salt Pond Visitor Center Eastham, The Wellfleet Audubon Sanctuary, Great Maple Swamp at Marconi or further up to Truro Pamet or the Provincelands. We are less than a 20 minute scenic drive to Provincetown with easy neighborhood highway access. You may bring your own kayak, or paddle boards or rent equipment from Paddle Cape Cod. They offer guided marsh paddle tours in the Great Salt Marsh off of Hemenway Landing in Eastham or from Salt Pond at the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor Center in Eastham. Cape Cod Bay kiteboarding beaches of First Encounter Beach and Bee's River are very popular . Surfing aficionados will enjoy the waves at Nauset Light, Whitecrest Beach , Marconi or Cahoon Hollow Beaches. Eastham is the Cape Cod National Seashore gateway town with access to Nauset Light Beach or Coast Guard Beaches in Eastham or close drive or bike ride by bike path on the cape cod rail trail to access Marconi Beach in Wellfleet. Dogs are allowed on the National seashore. Consult their website for beach fire and dog rules. The Cape Cod Bay Beaches First Encounter or Campground in Eastham allows day pass visitor parking .Wiley Park or Great Pond beaches are the local public fresh water beaches in Eastham . Day pass ticket is required from 9-5 for beach parking access during late June through Labor Day . The tickets are purchased from each beach attendant . Lines do queue quite early on prime season beach days. Route 6 beach traffic to and from the Cape Cod National Seashore beaches can extend the travel time significantly on July and August beach days .... traffic and beach lots are known to fill easily before 10... our beaches are free after gatehouse is unattended at 4:30 -5 pm and much easier to get on after 3 pm if you aren't up for the planning required to get a good spot in the sand ! I enjoy clamming and purchase a family shellfish license annually. shared equipment is in the toy garage and you'll find the license in a zip lock bag. If you wish to try digging Hemenway Landing Boat Launch Low tide is best. Tides are posted on the board. Only attempt at low tide this is a fast moving deep water area at high tide! Pleasant Bay Tide Chart is the chart to consult on line for this area the great salt marsh has it's own tide not the same as the outer beach. The Cape Cod Rail Trail is accessed through our neighborhood with an easement for bike access after the bend on Oakwood Road between the 3rd and 4th homes on the right . The 100 mile marker from Boston for the Rail Trail is between the Neighborhood and Nauset Road. The rail trail is a lovely dappled shade area to enjoy dog walks in the summer heat too. Entering the trail from the neighborhood turning left will take you to Marconi Beach and points in Wellfleet. Turning Right will bring you to Nauset Road and points beyond to Orleans or Chatham. Do not attempt to cross 4 lane Route 6 unless you are at a lighted crosswalk. The rail trail has under road access that will bring you safely across this busy thoroughfare. We also enjoy minutes away convenient access to take the family to The Wellfleet Drive In theater playing blockbuster summer double features and the vintage dancing hotdog and popcorn trailer of the 1950's! They have a fun playground for kids. Bring beach chairs and bug spray for this retro low tech night out! They have a full service air conditioned Theater and mini golf on site too and host the Wellfleet drive in Flea Market too. We are a pet friendly home for well traveled ,well socialized house trained , experienced traveling dogs with respectful responsible owners. This is not the place to leave your dog unattended if they have never been left. My cleaning service charges additional $75 per pet per stay (maximum two) . I will bill you in advance of your stay using the collect money from guest feature . Be respectful clean up after your dog as you would at home and keep fido off of the sofas and beds. Sofa covers are folded in the white rockers in the living room A vacuum is stored in up and down stairs closets to clean up any accidents . Pet enzyme cleaner is in the downstairs closet. If there is an accident please take care of this to avoid other dogs marking as well! The sofas clean easily with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to wipe these supplies are in the downstairs closet. Pet friendly products are used for household extermination and cleaning. I request that you contain or crate your dog when you are on site. This is to avoid chewing or anxiety destruction. Be aware ticks, sand fleas and poison ivy are an issue on the dunes ...pre-treat pets or people and be vigilant.
