Step back in time in this wonderful historic home built in 1840. Feel the ambiance of original wood floors, high ceilings and photo collages that tell a story of times past. Visit Historic Keachi and observe homes, churches, cemeteries, and the women's college that acted as a staging place for soldiers during the Battle of Mansfield. Although there are NO Tv's in the house, we DO have free WiFi !!! The space Built in 1840 the stately home is surrounded by a large and picturesque lawn containing many beautiful oak and hickory trees, as well as a variety of cedars, redbuds and dogwoods. A perfect place to host a baby, bridal or wedding shower, or even a small wedding, the Swearingen Place promises to take you back in time to a simpler way of life without the hectic rush of todays world. Guest access The house sits on a well maintained area of about 5 acres surrounded by a wooded 50 plus acres. The mowed and maintained yard area can be used to walk, sit, take pictures or set up for a country picnic or small gathering. Other things to note PLEASE NOTE : THERE ARE NO TV'S OR WIFI in this historic gem. Even some cell phone carriers do not provide good service here, it is truly an UNPLUG UNWIND kind of stay! The train still runs through the historic town of Keachi and the whistle can be startling and loud. But it also takes your mind on a memory trip of days gone by when trains were the main mode of long distance transportation. Obviously, this is a country setting and mosquitos, fire-ants, even snakes could be present. The house and surrounding area is exterminated on a regular basis, but a few pesky visitors can be expected from time to time. There is adequate parking surrounding the house in good weather, however, if it's rained for days, you can expect to step through and around some muddy spots getting to the paved stepping stones to the house.
