Description
A former iron forge (blacksmith shop) built in 1791 and converted into a home in the early 1950's. This quaint stone home (18" thick walls) abuts the South Branch of the Raritan River. Exterior features a patio outside the back door and a large riverside deck for outdoor dining and relaxation. Great room/living/dining room with large fireplace. Kitchen with modern appliances. Each bedroom has a queen bed and full bath. Great for entertaining - board games and outdoor ping pong included. The space Sitting on the deck along the trout-stocked river is relaxing and peaceful. Open the windows and enjoy the sound and breeze from the river. The home has a Great Room with a cathedral ceiling and a very large fireplace with a fully exposed stone wall. The kitchen is modern without detracting from the home's charm. Great attention has been paid to the landscaping as well with many gardens on the property. There is also a large bamboo grove on the 2.5 acres. Guest access Guests have full access to the property. You can use the fireplace as well as the dual propane/charcoal grill which is next to the patio which has a fire pit as well. My home is one mile from the start of the 15 mile Columbia Trail, a former railroad-bed. The home is 15 minutes from the US Equestrian Center in Gladstone, 20 minutes from Waterloo Village in Stanhope and 20 minutes from Moorland Farms in Far Hills.
