Blue House Farm & Garden is back after a 3-year COVID hiatus. Your lovely peaceful Studio shares a wall with our 1794 farmhouse but has its own entrance, porch and privacy. Enjoy the tranquility of our land but still be only 2.4 miles from the center of Ashfield, 30 minutes from Northampton and Old Deerfield, less than 20 minutes to Berkshire East Mountain Resort, 30 minutes to Notchview for cross country skiing and snowshoeing, and 45 minutes to Mass. MOCA. The Studio has a brand new queen-sized futon in the main living area and a loft area with a single and double futon. Kitchen stocked with pots and pans and a Nespresso coffee maker (capsules included) and the bathroom has a shower. Guests have free run of our property, including the Blue House studio up on the knoll. We are in the main house and happy to help you with questions and suggestions and also happy to leave you alone! The studio is 2.4 miles from the famous Ashfield Hardware Store (where you can actually find everything you need), which is next door to Country Pie Pizza (really good pizza). Both are down the road from the Ashfield Lake House, which at present is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, 5:00 to 9:00, serving great cocktails and small plates. Ashfield has a number of hikes of varying levels of difficulty. You can get to one of those hikes right from the back of our property and it goes down to a 300 year-old burial ground deep in the woods. We are also a stone’s throw from Bear Swamp which is a Trustees of Reservation site, as well as Chapel Falls, another Trustees site. Down the road from us about 5 miles is the DAR Reservation which has public swimming and places to put in your kayak or paddle board - lots of ways to be outside. We are within 30 minutes of Smith College (Renee’s alma mater) and a little longer to UMass/Amherst. We are about 45 minutes to Mass MOCA in Adams, and 1 hour to Lee, Lenox and Tanglewood. This is rural Massachusetts so you will definitely need a car. This is a place to come and unplug - we have high speed internet but your cell phone may be spotty around Ashfield. Also, please note that Apple Valley Road is closed to through traffic so ignore that if your GPS directs you there. Continue on to Hawley Road and turn right on Tatro to get to us. There are three beds in the Studio - as shown in the pictures. There is a brand new queen-sized futon in the downstairs space and in the Loft there is a double and a single futon. If you are more than two, please let us know who makes up your party. One reason for this is that the Loft is not suitable for young children because (a) you reach it via a ladder and (b) there are no high guardrails. Four people are never permitted.
