The Home Place, built in 1895, sits three blocks from the Winterset square. It showcases local businesses and Winterset history while offering modern amenities and the comforts of home. Soaps and cleaning supplies are as fragrant free as possible, allowing for a near hypoallergenic haven. No pets for this reason. We offer a king bed, a queen bed, a dedicated office, and a handicapped entrance ramp. Cots, Pack-N-Play, and baby gates are available upon request. Welcome to The Home Place. The space The main house is all on one level, although there are steps to the main floor from the back door. We will provide a safety gate in case the steps are a problem for children. We provide two luggage racks per bedroom, as well as extra blankets and towels. Each bedroom offers its own closet, small dresser, mirror, charger station, blinds (queen bedroom only), room darkening curtains, fan, bedside lamps, and chair. Guest access Guests may access the entire house, except for the garage. Feel free to use the half bath and laundry facilities in the rustic basement. Watch your step on the way down. Other things to note Handicap items available on request: shower chair, handicap toilet with arms. The doors aren't extra wide, but a small wheelchair would easily fit. Please let us know if we need to remove some furniture to accommodate a wheelchair. The house will accommodate walkers, though there are rugs. If all guests must enter from the front door because of wheelchair access, we will provide a key to the front door. Please let us know your needs.
