Driftwood in Old Sconset Village

A quaint village cottage in the most historic and charming part of Sconset. This house has been passed down through generations in my family. You are just minutes walk from everything in the village: The Market, Sconset Beach, the Bluff walk, The Summerhouse, The Casino (tennis and movies). The space Driftwood is an authentic Nantucket cottage, passed down through my family since 1895. The rooms are quaint, with a mix of modern amenities such as cable TV and a modern kitchen, with some more antique furnishings. We enjoy spending most of our time there out on the front porch which is hedged-in for privacy, or the back patio, where we live to have dinner. Guest access You will have access to the entire house. Other things to note Garbage and Recycling: Garbage and recyclables pickup is on Monday and Thursday mornings (very early). There are two containers in the kitchen to the left of the sinks, one for trash (which includes paper) and the other for tin and plastic recyclables. Glass must be collected separately. All trash and recyclables must be placed in clear plastic bags (found under the sink) and tied. Put them in the outdoor bin on the side of the house to the left of the back kitchen door. Laundry: There is a stacked washer/dryer in the outside shed off the courtyard. Clean out the dryer filter each time for best results. Bathrooms: The full bath is off the back courtyard and there is an outdoor shower with hot water off the courtyard as well. The cold and hot are reversed on the knob in the indoor tub/shower. Allow a few minutes for the water in the outdoor shower to get hot. Towels and Sheets All beds are made up. Towels are in the smaller downstairs bedroom in a black chest and also in the drawers under the bed in that room. Sheets are in the low chest in the upstairs bedroom to the left of the stairs. Split System Air Conditioners/Heaters If you need them, the cottage has split system heaters/air conditioners in the dining room, back living room and upstairs bedroom. They are controlled by hand-held remotes found in each room. Just press the “On” button and regulate the temperature through the up/down arrows.
