Spacious, over 1,250 square feet! This amazing location is 1 block to the French Quarter and 3 blocks to Frenchmen Street. Built in 1820, one of the original Faubourg Marigny homes. You will literally be in a part of history. Smack dab in all of the action, yet still in a nice quiet street. Two large, fully private bedrooms, and a third pass-through bedroom that is not private and doubles as a reading room. Washer/dryer. Easy access with mechanical keypad lock. 55" TCL wall mounted HD TV. Please note, parties are not allowed at this location. This is a legal licensed AirBnB. The placement on the location map is accurate. On Kerlerec near Dauphine. As close to the French Quarter as a legal rental can get. The reading room can function as a third bedroom. All of the couches are futon couches. Please take note, only two of the bedrooms are private. The third bedroom is not private, it is a pass-through room with two futon sofas. Shutter windows can be opened on the front of the house to let in a ton of light. Hardwood floors throughout. Open layout. Skylight. Modern Viking stove and appliances. Easy walk to anything French Quarter. Very close to Frenchmen Street as well, where the locals go to see live music. The rear bedroom features a king bed and dresser. The front bedroom has a queen bed and desk with lamp. Both bedrooms with preserved brick walls. The reading room features a large leather couch that folds to a double sleeper (almost queen size) and a smaller red leather couch that also folds down for a futon single sleeper. The living room includes a 55" TCL Smart TV powered by Roku with Netflix and other options. We have blazing fast internet with the highest level of Cox service and an extender modem so internet is equally fast in every room. (Please note that it is not OK to torrent and Cox notifies us of illegal downloads, which would result in shutting off internet for the rest of your trip. Trust us, Cox is very on top of this.) The house is full of character and charm. Dating back to 1820, the wood used to build the house is what's known as barge board, taken from deconstructed boats that were unable to return upriver in the age before the steam engine. The front of the house is all original, including the 200 year old shutters and French doors. This is a great place to recharge after taking in everything New Orleans has to offer, but it's not a good place for people who want to bring the party home. I love my neighbors and want to maintain my relationships with them so please be respectful, especially in the backyard. This is a legal rental so it's not a secret that I do short term rentals from my home. I live in the attached house right next door. We share one wall. Fantastic central heating and A/C. Also large dehumidifier, which you'll appreciate if you come to New Orleans in the summer. Close to The Ruby Slipper, VertiMart, Buffa's, Horn's, Port of Call, and R Bar. Despite all this, and because of traffic patterns, the block is very quiet. WALKABLE TO: ------------------------------------ Jackson Square The Spotted Cat Music club The Rampart/St. Claude Street Car Line Horn's D.B.A New Orleans Maison Robert's Market Cafe Negril Blue Nile Balcony Music Club 30/90 music club Three Muses Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro Preservation Hall Bamboula's Mimi's in the Marigny Sweet Lorraine's Siberia One Eyed Jacks Buffa's Hi Hi Lounge Frenchmen street ART market Crescent Park Vaughan's Lounge Old U.S Mint Frenchman Street Bourbon Street Keyless entry makes check in a breeze. Just punch in the code and open the door. I live right next door and am available to meet and give a tour of the home if you prefer. Our guests have access to everything in the house including the laundry, kitchen, dishwasher, and backyard! The Marigny is the best neighborhood in the city. Walking distance to the French Quarter (1 block) and Frenchman Street (2 blocks), Treme (2blocks) and Bywater (half a mile). All the homes in this area are zoned as historic landmarks. This home is one of the first Marigny homes and is listed in all the architecture books detailing the early homes of New Orleans. A great way to get around is with the Blue Bike program. There are tons of Blue Bikes nearby and it's very inexpensive to rent them and ride around the city, check out the fair grounds. Though many of the things people enjoy the most about New Orleans are within walking distance. PARKING --There is a guest parking permit we can loan you that allows you to park 24 hours a day for the length of your stay in front of the house. Please let us know in advance if you will be requiring the parking pass and we'll tell you where to find it, this way we are able to keep track of who used the pass last. We can't get another guest parking pass if this one gets lost so it's very precious. If you forget to return the guest pass we'll have to charge you $250 but we will refund your money when the guest pass is returned via Fedex (we'd much rather have the parking pass back than your money, believe me). If you have a second car, there is free 24 hour parking less than 2 blocks away, on the other side of St. Claude. There are also plenty of parking lots ** CRITTERS -- Please be aware that NOLA is built on a swamp and you may come across some of it's habitat (bugs) during your stay. Rest assured our property is treated monthly and cleaned thoroughly with a top cleaning service between every guest, but we always like to prepare our guests in case you happen to cross paths while visiting our wonderful city :) Unwanted creatures are a known way of life down here. Please note this is not a cleanliness issue: our home is professionally cleaned between guests. Here is a handy guide for which bugs you're likely to see in NOLA: Buck Moth Caterpillar: Springtime Fire Ants: Year-round. The spring/summer heat will bring them inside. Mosquitoes: Year-round. Especially prevalent in spring/summer Termites: Summertime (though we use bait traps through Terminex so this is never an issue in our house.) Cockroaches: Year-round. The occasional mouse will also get in the house though we have treated the property and never had a full infestation. If you come across any critters and would like the exterminator to pay an extra visit during your stay just let us know. It's no problem.
