The space Highland is the house you have been looking for - a wonderful 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home that sleeps 10, in a perfect location. Easy access to the center of Great Barrington, less than a 1/2 to Lake Mansfield park, and enjoy direct access from the backyard gate in to one of the most beloved hilkes to the Green River, for swimming. Inside Highland, the concept is easy and inviting with simple Scandinavian features that are comforting and minimalist. The kitchen is well prepared for the home chef, with a center island that has a massive black soapstone countertop with extra seating for 4. The appliances are all high-end stainless with an oversized gas range with 5 burners, double ovens, and the freezer/fridge with water and an ice maker. Small appliances include a microwave, coffee maker and blender. You've got plenty of extra storage with the pantry and lots of countertop space.The dining room table seats 6 so with the counter seating 10 is easily accommodated. The dining room/kitchen has direct access to the outdoor patio area for dining al fresco or soaking in the hot tub.The general ground floor space is open concept so the living room is also in this area with the Scandinavian style wood stove and cozy seating. This area has wrap around floor-to-ceiling windows with waffle shades that let light in but keep cold (and hot sun) out. The backyard is South-West facing so you have plenty of light, with gorgeous sunsets. The family room has a cozy sectional sofa and a smart TV that provides guests with access to all the typical subscription channels like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime video. This room has sliders that take you out to the sun decks with 2 chaises and a small table for sunning. Just off the front entry of the house is a main floor guest bedroom with a Queen bed. This guest can utilize the 1/2 bathroom, just off the kitchen. The laundry room and garage entry is just beyond the 1/2 bath, down a short hallway.The front hall closet is well organized so you can easily store all of your outdoor gear. There other 3 guest rooms are all on the second floor, upstairs. The primary bedroom has a king bed, with a brand new mattress and an ensuite full bathroom with walk-in shower. Guest room #3 guest has a Queen bed and another Queen fold-out sofa bed. Guest room #4 has another Queen bed. Both guest rooms 3 and 4 share another full bathroom with a tiled tub/shower combination. there are two blow up mattresses which can be available for added guests, upon request. All linens are fully supplied; however, we advise that you bring your own pillows and a blanket for these extra blow up beds. Outside, you have the patio with several areas for outdoor seating, propane grill, sun umbrella, extra picnic and the sun deck on the opposite side. The hot tub is cleaned on a schedule and is available year round. The gardens are pretty, with fruit trees as well as seasonal berries to pick and eat. The yard is large, fully fenced, so there so there is plenty of run-around room. The gate at the top of the lawn takes you directly into McAllister Park for hiking. This is a 2 mile hike, round trip, and has a beautiful swimming hole once you arrive (see photos). Bring your picnic and enjoy and this epic hike is available year round! Highland is close to everything: less than 5 minutes to the center of Great Barrington and just 25 minutes to Tanglewood, 10 minutes to Ski Butternut and less than 15 to Ski Catamount. Highland is also less than a 1/2 mile to another local favorite: Lake Mansfield Park for swimming, play equipment, and a nice sandy beach. Guest access Guests will have an easy check in and have complete access to the property. A house manual with important information about the house is provided and guest are encouraged to read it.
