Description

About 45 minutes from Shreveport/Bossier City, our lake house is located on a quiet curve of Lake Bistineau, known for its Spanish Moss-draped cypress trees and lovely sunsets. Please note that the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries has begun the annual drawdown to try to control the giant Sylvania weed. We can always see water from our property, but the water’s edge is out past the trees. Great for a walk in the lakebed! also, please check out our neighboring property, Shades of Blue! The space Enjoy the rustic charm of the Red Camp's brick floors, stone fireplace, and the peace, quiet and gorgeous view from the screened-in porch. The kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots and pans, water filter, coffee maker, toaster, blender, small crock pot and full-size appliances, including a dishwasher. Coffee, various teas, condiments, seasonings and spices are available, but you will want to plan your menu well, as you don't want to waste your relaxation time running to the grocery store 45 minutes away! We have only one bathroom with shower stall, but there is a well water shower and sink at the boat house. Balls and yard games, table games, some kids' toys, fire pit and an 18-foot picnic table are all available for your enjoyment! Enjoy the 1.9 acres in the sun or shade, and take a walk around the Loop to enjoy more views of beautiful Lake Bistineau! The boat house is special and you might end up spending most of your time there! Play pool and darts, watch TV, or watch the sunset from the deck. Toward the end of summer, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries does a drawdown of the lake to try and control the Giant Salvinia weed. Please note that during the draw down the boat house is a dry dock, standing about 10 feet above the lake bed. The water is farther out, but the view is still beautiful and the water is accessible. Once the lake bed is dry, it is great for hiking and exploring!. If you have questions about the lake level at the time of your stay, please contact us. If you would like a longer stay than the calendar is showing, please contact us, as we have some flexibility. Guest access The whole house is yours! Other things to note Please note that the unique and beautiful fireplace is non-functional. It is capped off, so please reserve any fire-building for the fire pit outside.
