Relaxing Country Escape

Rest up from a busy day in the Des Moines metro, under 30 min away, enjoying country quiet paired with local convenience. The airport is under 20 minutes away and multiple stores and restaurants available within 10 min. Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space, enjoying the sunset at the fire pit, taking advantage of the space to spread out, cook, kick back in the home theater space, go for a swim or soak in the hot tub. We hope our space can provide peace and relaxation! The space The Sleeping Arrangements: There is just one - but spacious - bedroom. Please note that it has an open ceiling (walls do not go all the way up), given the ductless heating/cooling system we have installed, which allows for air to circulate throughout the whole space. Thus, the bedroom is not "sound proof" if you should choose to have people sleep out in the main living area. The comfortable king bed located in the bedroom space is a hybrid coil/memory foam mattress. Out in the main living area, when a second bed is requested, we can make up a King sized bed. This large Murphy bed has a memory foam type mattress and is dense/firm but soft. Also, if requested, a queen sized air mattress, OR king sized foam floor pad (some consider it comfortable, others say it is a bit lumpy and can settle on the ground too easily, so it is your choice which you'd like to have made up should you need a third bed) can also be provided . The Living Space: The large open space perfect for the family to spread out and relax together. This area has a 120" projector screen with a 4K projector with great surround sound system. Settle into the two comfy power reclining couches and relax to a fun flick, or binge a series to your heart's content on any of the streaming apps you would want to sign in with your personal subscription. If a game night is more your speed, the large 8' table is the perfect spot to spread out for a board game session or serious round of cards with friends! The Kitchen: More of a kitchenette, although it does not have a full range stove, we have tried to think through all the amenities you might need to still cook a tasty home cooked meal! With a convenient grocery store close by and a Super Walmart, you can stock up on whatever you want and keep it in the large stainless steel French door refrigerator. We have a full sized oven, and a two burner stand alone electric hot plate available to cook on, with cupboards stocked with cooking sheets, pot, pan, and skillet. Also, an electric griddle, whirlypop for making fresh popcorn, dedicated toaster, and coffee pot with stocked coffee, filters, and syrup choices, an electric tea kettle, plenty of delicious tea options, hot cocoa, and reverse osmosis filtered water available makes the "kitchenette" worthy of any culinary enjoyment one might desire. Upon request we can provide a propane gas grill for use if you're looking to BBQ. The bathroom: There is only one single full bath. Please be aware that although the entrance has no steps into the PB itself, there are 3 steps up to the bathroom so unfortunately we are not handicap accessible. The Outside: If being immersed in the nature part of the country scene is more your jam, come sit outside under the covered porch area and relax to the sound of the breeze and birds and if you're lucky, you might even get to watch the neighbor's beautiful horses grazing out in the pasture across the road. Take a stroll down the gravel lane or down the steps to the open grassy field in the back and enjoy the sun and tranquility around. At the bottom of the steps is a nice fire pit area you are welcome to utilize. Feel free to bring outdoor games and set up for some enjoyment in the grassy lawn. Year round there is a lovely hot tub for your enjoyment and destressing - nestled at the end, with relaxing views of the sky, field, and road. During the summer, upon request and confirmed scheduling ahead of time, you may be able access our fun in ground pool connected to our personal residence. Please ask ahead of time to determine when it is available for your use. Surrounding area: We are rural but a short 10 min drive to the closest city which has every amenity you might want for going out or staying in. The larger Des Moines and West Des Moines metro and shopping/activities scene is under 30 min away with a plethora of activities, shopping, and restaurants. The international airport is about 15-20 minutes away if you're needing to catch a flight back out. We do live on the property in the house next door so you may run into us or hear our kids playing in the shared driveway space and running around outside during the daytime hours. We are a rural home with homestead wannabe vibes. We have chickens that roam the yard so please drive slowly and wait for them to cross if they are walking on the driveway. If they're laying well, you may luck out with some fresh free range eggs during your stay! We do have a large outdoor dog on property. She is very friendly and will greet you with excitement when you arrive. Please be aware given the nature of her purpose, she will often bark at night to deter any predators (foxes, raccoons, other animals that might try to get to the chickens). We want to be upfront about this given the potential noise disruption. Overall we have not had guests express complaints or issue, but want to be mindful to those who may find any such potential noise an inconvenience and not want to stay in such environment. Lastly, there are also multiple farm cats on the property who are very friendly but will jump in your car or try to run inside open doors! Please enjoy them outside only, but no pets of any kind are allowed inside the guest home. We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of country! Guest access We have a fully fenced inground pool connected to our personal home that can be made available for guest access with signed waiver and communication regarding scheduling as we also are often in the pool ourselves. There is also a hot tub near party barn that is available for guest use. There is no lifeguard on duty and it is recommended to soak in hot water no longer than 20 minutes at a time. Please use caution and swim or soak at your own risk. Other things to note There are a couple steps up to the bathroom inside the Party Barn.
