While staying in our home, you'll be in the perfect location for going to Kona or to the black and green sands beach. We're just 3 miles to Kealakekua Bay for the best snorkeling! We also have plenty of space in the home where you can relax on the couch, make a meal, or have coffee on the lanai watching the birds (including our chickens). Our backyard also provides a SHOW for sunsets. We're within walking distance to the public transportation bus stop, grocery, and banks. *Our home has pets* Our home is pretty open and obvious for the shared spaces. If a door is closed, it's a private room. You have access to all the common areas. The living area, Lana'i, back yard, kitchen, dining area, and laundry room are open for use. There is plenty of parking available on the street. Please don't park in front of the driveway or the fire hydrant. Due to being on solar, please start laundry after 10a and finish before 3pm. We have snorkel gear, towels, and beach chairs to use for free. We have inflatable kayaks to rent. Some areas need a permit to kayak and there are limited numbers. You'll need to apply for your permits before arrival. I'm usually hands off unless you need me. I'd like to greet you when you arrive and give you the lay of the house so you can feel comfortable enough to get and do what you need. If you need guidance on food or attractions, I've provided options in your room but I'm happy to offer more tailored options for you during your stay. People stop on our street all the time to watch the sunset. We're just off the main road because, well, everything is. We're in a mostly residential area. There is a grocery store, public library, banks, church, and public transpo all within about a 5 minute walk. We are in an agriculture area and our backyard back up to a jungle so there is wildlife. Public transpo stop is less than a 5 minute walk away. However, it's easier to get around by renting a vehicle. We are on a solar system so we are energy conscious. We produce the most energy when it's sunny between 10a and 3pm. We ask that you do as much as you can with the big appliances between these hours. If you'd like to join us for dinner, I cook nearly every night. I'm happy to include you in those meals for a nominal fee. Please let me know in your booking if you'd like to join us. It's about $10/person/meal.
