Off-grid microhouse in the country
This is a new "microhouse" that is 8 feet by 12 feet inside, with a four foot outside lanai (balcony) to relax on. There is a comfy queen bed, a work desk, a small kitchenette, an outside flushing toilet, and a lovely claw foot tub and shower. This is all just 25 minutes from the airport and 7 minutes from Keaau, but deliciously rustic and jungly. There are two other cabins on the property that may or may not be occupied during your stay (I'll let you know). It rains at least a little most days. Offgrid Hawaii in the rebel community of Puna! This cabin is an example of a completely offgrid sustainable living lifestyle. But, yes, we do have Starlink wifi so if you need to get some work done while you're here that's an option too. There is a nice little work desk alongside the kitchenette. This is a small cabin but with outdoor living the norm here in Hawaii this is big enough! It's a new space on a property with two other cabins, one of which is sometimes occupied (the other I keep for myself for occasional stays). There are some roosters a few lots over who make a good amount of noise in the mornings so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. There is a keypad lock and also a physical key for a backup. You can park right in front of the cabin. This is the tropics so there are definitely bugs, geckos, spiders, roosters, and all sorts of other critters that love the tropics as much as you do. So if you are squeamish this is probably not the place for you! It rains pretty regularly here, usually in short showers that give way to sun quickly, but sometimes it can get socked in for a few days at a time (once or twice a year we get a storm like this). But this is what keeps it so gorgeous, green, and lush with life here. The rain is usually pretty warm so it's not an inconveniencing rain like on the mainland.
