Our 1500 square foot Hawaiian plantation-style house was built in 1951. It's a welcoming and comfortable space located on the main road between Hawi and Polulu, on a lot surrounded by fruit trees. Recent kitchen and bathroom renovations, as well as new floors and electrical throughout most of the house. The house doesn’t have or need air-conditioning; the climate is very temperate, and the trade winds are almost always blowing. On the rare still day, ceiling fans in every room do the job. 1 large and two smaller sized bedrooms, plus a separate office for work-at-home folks. A large kitchen, medium sized living room and den. We are always available via phone or text with questions or problems and have a local who can act as property manager if needed. We are a 4 minute drive to Historic Kapaau town, Kohala Hospital, Roots Skate Park and Kohala Civic Center with fire and police all nearby. Havi is just down the road. Our location is within walking distance (1.5 miles) of Kauhola Point Lighthouse, and trails along the coast. We are driving distance to swimming and snorkleing at Mahukona and other locations, and close to many other beautiful places to explore. We recommend you have a car for your stay here. Bus service is quite limited with only one bus a day running down to Kona. Our home provides one with a more traditional rural experience. We do not have a dishwasher, a garbage disposal, mail delivery, a large screen TV or garbage pickup! In fact, youʻll need to drive your own trash to the local waste facility as needed! It's very rural and that's why we love it here. You may use our P.O Box address for deliveries.
